Want a different profile picture on your Snapchat profile? If you have a Public Profile, you can easily use any photo from your phone's gallery. If you have a regular profile, you can only customize your Bitmoji. This wikiHow will show you how to change your profile picture on Snapchat using a Public Profile or Bitmoji on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device.

Updating a Snapchat Profile Picture

To update the picture on your public profile, navigate to your public profile and tap the pencil icon. Tap your current profile picture, and then select a new photo from your Camera Roll or Gallery. Tap Save Changes .

  1. This is your Bitmoji or Story icon at the top-left corner of your screen.
    • A Public Profile is different from your normal Snapchat profile, which can only have a Bitmoji as a profile picture. A Public Profile gives you more access to tools to build a community. [1]
  2. This is at the top of the page. If you don't see this, you don't have a Public Profile.

  4. This will be your avatar or current Bitmoji.
    • Your Camera Roll or Gallery will open.
  5. Make sure the photo adheres to Snapchat's community guidelines.
  6. Your new profile picture will be set on your Public Profile.
    • If you want to delete your current profile picture, tap the pencil icon again. Tap your profile picture, and then tap Delete Existing Photo .

    • Your Bitmoji Selfie is the pose you see as your current profile picture. If you want to change how your Bitmoji looks first, see the next section to change the appearance .

  3. This is the third option.
  4. Scroll down to find more options. A green checkmark will appear on it.
  5. This will save your Bitmoji selfie.

  4. Here, you can change your Bitmoji’s hair, accessories, makeup, facial features, and more. [3]

  5. This will confirm your changes and save your new Bitmoji appearance. Now the friends you’ve added on Snapchat will see and use your new Bitmoji look.

Deleting Your Bitmoji

  3. It's under the My Account section.
  4. This text is at the bottom of the menu.
  5. Doing this removes the Bitmoji avatar from your Snapchat profile.
    • If you created your Bitmoji on Snapchat, this will permanently delete the Bitmoji.
    • You can always create a new Bitmoji later.

    You can change the Bitmoji avatar style by going to Settings, then Bitmoji. There, you can choose between the three avatar styles.

    How do I add a picture to my profile from my gallery?

    You cannot do that as of the new Snapchat update. They pushed all accounts to use bitmoji only as their selfies.
