How Stats Work in Pokémon GO

  1. Unlike traditional Pokémon games, where Pokémon have 6 unique IVs, the Pokémon you catch in Pokémon GO only have 3 total stats: Attack, Defense, and HP. All 3 stats are rated by your Team Leader when you hit the “Appraise” option in your game.
  2. A Pokémon with perfect IVs will have around 45 total for their IV stats, while Pokémon with lower-quality IVs will net a lower score. The star ranking system lets you know how high quality the Pokémon’s IVs and stats are overall.
