In Genshin Impact, while you can purchase food from shops in Mondstadt and Liyue, the selection usually is very limited. In order to get more delicious items, you need to cook these food items. To learn a recipe, buy one from a shop, and to cook food, start by locating a stove, pot, or campfire. Food regenerates your stamina, revives your characters, restores HP, and provides defense against attacks.

Cooking Dishes

  1. If you have recipes, they will also show up again here so you can learn them.
    • Foods are divided into several categories: restore, revive, defense, attack, and stamina. Restore adds HP to a specific character, revive heals a downed character, defense adds protection from attacks, attack increases damage dealt to enemies, and stamina allows you to replenish the stamina bar.
  2. This will take you to the cooking screen.
  3. Certain characters can give bonuses when cooking. For example, when perfectly cooking dishes with healing effects with Barbara, there is a 12% chance of getting double the product.
  4. This will start cooking. Watch the arrow.
  5. If you get the item in the yellow zone, you will get Perfect. If you get the item in the white zone, you will get Complete.
    • If you get "Perfect", your proficiency will increase. After you can proficiently cook a dish (by cooking a dish perfectly a certain number of times), the cooking interface will be replaced by a slider.

  2. Note that from this screen you can only forge ingredients needed for cooking.
  3. Drag the slider until you get the number of items you want.
  4. This will start cooking.
    • Unlike when cooking food, when processing ingredients, you will have to check back later to collect the foods you want.

      Tips

      • You may still want to buy food from the shops if you do not have any ingredients, and you need a supply of food.
      • Remember— The higher the proficiency, the more effective the dish will be. For example, if you are cooking a healing dish, if you get “Perfect” proficiency, the dish will heal you more when you eat it.
