Want to cross out text in your Reddit post? Whether you want to strikethrough text in a new Reddit post or by editing an existing post, you can easily do so by surrounding the words with two tildes (~~) on either side. This wikiHow guide teaches you how to cross out (strikethrough) words and/or sentences in the Reddit mobile app on your Android phone or tablet.

Adding Strike Through Text on the Reddit App

  • To cross out text on Reddit mobile, surround the text you want to cross out with ~~two tildes~~.
  • All text between the symbols will appear crossed out .
  • You can cross out text in a new post or editing one of your previous posts.
  1. It's the orange icon with a white robot inside. You'll usually find it on the home screen or in the app drawer.
    • If you're not already signed in to your account, sign in now.
  2. You can cross out words anywhere you post on Reddit.
    • To add a comment to a post, tap the speech bubble icon beneath it, scroll down, then tap the reply button (a white arrow in a blue circle).
    • To create a new post, tap the + in the orange circle, select Post Some Text , then select a subreddit from the “Select Community” drop-down.

    • Any text that is not surrounded by ~~ will appear normally in the post or comment.
  3. It's at the top-right corner of the screen. The post is now viewable by others on Reddit. Any text between two sets of tildes (~~) appears with a line through it.
