Do you want to save a photo from Google Maps to your computer? If you've tried to download a user-uploaded photo from Google Maps but weren't able to save it, you can do so easily with a secret workaround. Or, if you'd rather save a Street View image or a map, you can take a screenshot. This wikiHow article will teach you the easiest ways to download an image from Google Maps on your Mac or Windows computer.
Downloading a Map as an Image on Google Maps
- Go to Google Maps and enter the location you want to screenshot in the search bar.
- Windows: Press the Windows key + Shift + S. Click and drag a rectangle around the image and click the disk icon to save it.
- Mac: Press Shift + Command + 4. Click and drag around the image. When you let go of the mouse, the image will be saved to your desktop.

Open Google Maps on your computer. You can use any web browser on your computer to download an image from Google Maps, including Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

Click the first photo for the destination. This opens a larger version of the photo.

Select the photo you want to download. You can click All to see all photos or use the categories at the top-left corner of the page. Once you click the photo you want to download, a larger version of it will open on the left side of the page.

Click the three-dot menu on the photo â‹® . These three vertical dots are at the top of the photo next to the name of the location. A menu will expand.

Click Report a problem . This opens an ominous-looking page in a new tab that allows you to report inappropriate images. But don't worry, you won't be reporting anything. This is just a workaround for saving the image!

Right-click the image and select Save image as… . Even though the image looks small in the preview, you'll be downloading the image in its original resolution.

Select a saving location and click Save . This saves the image to your computer in its original quality.
- Now you can click the X on the browser tab you opened to get rid of the "Report" page.

Go to https://maps.google.com in any browser. You can take a screenshot of anything on Google Maps, including satellite maps and Street View images.
