Loyal to a fault to her friends and beliefs, Cho Chang is as beautiful is she is intelligent. She was Harry Potter’s first girlfriend and first kiss. She also played as a seeker on the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team for several years. She’s also not hard to draw, and this wikiHow provides instructions to make it even easier.

Steps

  1. 1
Get a reference picture. Look up a picture of Katie Leung, the actress who plays Cho Chang in the movies, or better yet, a screenshot from one of the Harry Potter movies. You might even try searching a specific book or movie if you want to draw her at a certain age.
  2. 2
Sketch an oval lightly. This serves as an outline for her face, so make sure it follows her face’s shape. The oval should be wider at the top and more pointy at the chin.
    • Make sure that it is light enough so you can erase it later, yet dark enough so that you can still see and work with it.

  3. 3
Create some light guidelines to help you place her features. This example uses horizontal lines going across the face. Notice the relationships between the lines, like the differences in space between them.
    • The highest line should be just over halfway up the oval.
    • There is more than one method to divide her face. If you're used to drawing one line across her face and one line down, or something else, go with it. Use whichever drawing method you're most comfortable with.
  4. 4
Indicate her hair with a few light lines. Don't worry too much about details, since they should not be your main focus right now.
    • Cho has medium-length straight hair with bangs that part in the middle.
  5. 5
Draw an oval on both sides to show her shoulders. The left one should be larger than the right to add perspective (it should look like one shoulder is closer than the other). Both ovals should slant downward with the higher sides being closer to her neck.
    • If your reference picture has her whole body, you can "transpose it" to make only her shoulders and up in your drawing, or you can attempt to draw the whole body.
  6. 6
Place symbols of her features using your guidelines. Two football shapes work fine for her eyes; they will lie between the first two guidelines. A curve representing the bottom of her nose should touch the third line. A line for her mouth will go right through the last guideline.
  7. 7
Refine some of your lines and make them neater. You could make her hair softer and rounder, or clean up the outline of her face. Erase what you don't need of the original guidelines.
    • You don’t have to follow the image in this step exactly. You might still need a guideline or shape that the picture doesn't show (or vice versa).
  8. 8
Add some simple shapes to the neck area. Think of trapezoids, triangles, and other easy things to mimic the shape of a collar, vest, and necktie—or whatever other clothes she is wearing in your drawing. Keep in mind that a Yule Ball gown will have different shapes than a school uniform.
  9. 9
Solidify her features. Add highlights, pupils, and lashes to her eyes. Indicate the bridge of her nose and her nostrils. Give her lips.
    • Cho’s left eye (on your right) will be drawn with a rounder shape due to the way her head is turned.
    • Cho’s nose almost looks like an upside down question mark at this angle. The outsides of her nostrils can be drawn with shapes like parentheses.
    • Cho’s bottom lip is plumper than her top lip.
  10. 10
Detail her clothes and neck. Her collar should appear floppy. You can also add wrinkles to make the clothes look realistic, and add a line or two to her neck to show how her head is turned.
  11. 11
Refine the entire drawing. This includes the facial structure, the clothes, the hair, and everything else. Do this until you are happy with your outline.
    • Darken the lines you want to keep and erase everything else. You won’t need the guidelines anymore.
  12. 12
Finish the outline. Ink it if you’re drawing on paper.
  13. 13
Add some base colors. These make it so none of the background will show through the final image.
    • The color of her neck will be darker than that of her face because of shadows.
  14. 14
Finish coloring. Add shadows and highlights to complete your drawing. Cho has chocolate brown hair. She’s in Ravenclaw, so her tie will be dark blue and bronze (or silver if you’re drawing the movie version). The other individual details are yours to decide.
