You can grid the original drawing. Then draw a grid for a larger one. The size of the squares should be proportionate. After that, make the larger one by looking at the relation and what is inside each square.
  • Question
What if my rose does not look right?
    Community Answer
The nice thing about art is that it does not have to look perfect, so do not worry if it does not look perfect. If you want it to look better though, keep practicing to improve your skills, so your rose can look how you want it to be. Drawing is a skill that requires practice to improve.

      • Shade and draw lightly before you start to draw more bold lines. Then, if you need to rub something out or you do something wrong, you can easily get rid of it without leaving marks and dents on the paper. It can also help if you have all your supplies ready next to you and draw on a flat surface with lots of elbow space.
      • Try drawing it from a different angle. Drawing it from side on, for example, helps improve your idea of perspective and makes the rose look more 3D. The easiest way to do this is by finding or taking some pictures of how you want to draw your flower.
      • To make your paper look old, crinkle and rip it a bit and then rub a wet tea bag on it. Do this before you draw and wait for it to dry.

      About This Article

      Article Summary X

To draw a rose, start by sketching a small oval. Then, draw a U shape, which should look a bit like a cup, underneath the oval. Next, make uneven jagged crescent shapes around the oval shape to form petals. Inside the oval, draw a spiral line for the inner the part of the flower. Continue adding on bigger petals. Next, draw leaves underneath the flower. Darken the outline around the petals and leaves. Finish by adding details like shadings and color. To learn how to draw a simple rose motif, read on!
