While it's great that you're trying to fulfill an order in Shipt Shopper, sometimes it's not so great that you have to miss out and need to drop the order. Even for an accidental claim, it is rather easy to drop an order in Shipt.
Steps
Method 1
Method 1 of 2:
Self-Service Dropping
-
1Learn the limitations that exist on the Self-service Drop Order tool.
- Shipt offers you a grace period of three hours. For example, if your delivery window is 9-10pm, the latest you can drop that order by yourself is 6pm. Anything later, and you'll have to call into Shipt to report the mistake - as you'll see by the dialog box - described later.
- Do not plan on dropping your order after Marking your first item as "Found" as after you scan the item, the Drop button will disappear. Even if you remove the item as Found, your Drop button will no longer display.
- You can no longer self-service drop a “Delivery Only” order - regardless of the brand.
-
2Claim the order - if you haven't done so already. Inside your Shipt Shopper app, find the order and claim it. Tap the Claim Order button at the bottom of the order then confirm that you'd like to claim the order in the " Are you sure you want to claim this order? Order Number: (number)" dialog box by tapping Claim Order in this dialog box.
- Dismiss this message regarding whether or not you’d like to review the order details. Tap the Dismiss box when it asks you if you'd like to review the order details.

3Open up your My Orders page. Tap the menu bar in the top left corner, then tap My Orders from the bar that displays.
-
4Find the order's offer card you'd like to drop - and tap the three dots button to open a new window.
-
5Tap the Drop Order button. Before you start shopping, you'll find this just between the "Add to shopping list/"Remove from shopping list" and "Cancel" buttons. After that, it should go away.
- This Drop Order button will be below "View order details" for an Delivery Only order. However, it doesn't work when you try to drop it this way and you will need to resort to the next method instead! (Sorry.)
-
6Confirm the dropping of the order - if asked to give confirmation. On the page saying " Drop this order? Are you sure that you want to release this order?" tap the "Yes" button.
- If after tapping the "Drop Order" button from the My Orders page you receive, " Unable to drop order This order is too close to it's delivery window to be dropped. Please contact Shopper Support if you need to drop it." either tap "Call Shopper Support" and follow the Method 2 steps, or tap "Start Live Chat" and chat with Shopper Support instead.

Method 2
Method 2 of 2:
Shopper Support-Directed Dropping
-
1Have the order number written down. You'll find that number in your My Orders list.
-
2Contact Shipt. Use their phone system. Call 205-502-2500. Enter the Shopper Support line (by pressing 2), then select the option that tells them you'd like to drop an order (by pressing 1). Enter the order number. Wait for the Shopper Support employee. Explain what you'd like to do with the order - tell them you'd like to drop the order. They'll ask you for your order number and might ask why you'd like to drop it. They'll ask for you to hold as they step away and you'll hear airtime (white noise) in its place.
- If the customer directed you to cancel their order through text, stop shopping and send a text message with just their order number to 205-402-8474! However, it may take some additional time to hear back from Shipt for this.
-
3Retrieve the confirmation text message of the release of the order. You'll see confirmation in your text messages that "The order (#) was unassigned from your schedule. Please contact Shipt HQ if you have questions. Thanks!" It may come from a different Alabama number and one that's outbound-only.Advertisement
