This wikiHow teaches you how to evolve your Rockruff into a Dusk Lycanroc in Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon. Rockruff can evolve into multiple forms of Lycanroc, and the dusk form is only available in the Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games. In order to get a Dusk Lycanroc, you will have to use the event-specific Rockruff you receive as a mystery gift at the beginning of the game.

Receiving the Special Rockruff

Open Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon on your Nintendo 3DS. Pokémon's Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon games are only available on Nintendo 3DS.
- Other Pokémon games will not allow you to get Dusk Lycanroc.

Select Mystery Gift on the game's home screen. You will receive a free mystery gift as soon as you open the game.
- This mystery gift will automatically give you the event-specific Rockruff with the Own Tempo ability. This Rockruff is the only Pokémon that will evolve into a Dusk Lycanroc.
- If you already opened your mystery gift and received your special Rockruff, you can skip this step, and go right into the evolution.

Select Receive Gift . This will open your connection options.

Select Get via Internet . This will use your Nintendo's internet connection to receive your new Rockruff gift.
- Feel free to select one of the other connection options if you're using a different connection to the Pokémon database.

Select A special Rockruff . You'll see this option on your screen as soon as you connect to the internet. When you tap it, you'll receive your new Rockruff.
- You will see a message explaining your Rockruff will evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc when leveled up to Lv. 25 or higher between the in-game times of 5:00 p.m. and 5:59 p.m.
- The event-specific Rockruff is only limited to one Pokémon per game.
- After receiving your new Rockruff, the game will automatically open up to the Pokémon Center.

Talk to the guy with the orange-and-blue shirt in the Pokémon Center. Walk up to the guy in front of the front desk, and press the A button on your Nintendo to interact.

Select Yes . When the Pokémon Center guy asks if you want to take the Rockruff, select Yes to add it to your own Pokémon list.Advertisement

Evolving Rockruff into Lycanroc

Press the home button on your Nintendo 3DS. This will pause the game, and open your Nintendo menu.
- You will have to change your Nintendo's time to 5:00 pm in order to evolve your Rockruff.
- If you're not sure how to change your time on Nintendo, make sure to check out this article for detailed instructions.

Select the System Settings icon on the bottom-screen. This button looks like a gray wrench icon at the bottom of your Nintendo menu. It will open your settings menu.

Select OK in the confirmation window. This will quit the Pokémon game, and open your settings.

Select Other Settings . This will open your options on a new page.

Select Date & Time on the "Other Settings" menu. This will open Today's Date and Current Time options on a new page.

Select Current Time . This will open your Nintendo's clock.

Set the current time to 5:00 pm or 17:00. Use the up and down arrow buttons to set your Nintendo's clock between 5:00 pm and 5:59 pm.
- Your current time has to be set between 5:00 pm and 5:59 pm in order to evolve the special Rockruff. It will not evolve outside of this time period.
- You can set the time anywhere between 5:00 pm and 5:59 pm, or 17:00 and 17:59 if you're using a 24-hour clock.

Select OK . This will save your Nintendo's new time.

Open your Pokémon Ultra Sun or Ultra Moon game. Now that your Nintendo's time is set between the specified hours, you're ready to evolve your Rockruff into a Dusk Form Lycanroc.
- The game will open up in dusk time. You'll see orange-golden skies at this time.

Press the × button on your Nintendo. This will open the game menu.

Select BAG on the game menu. This button looks like an orange bag. It will open your items on a new page.

Battle with your Rockruff until Level 24 or higher. Your Rockruff will only evolve when it's leveled up to Level 25 or higher at dusk time. Battling will gain your Pokémon experience points, and gradually reach this level by winning battles.
- If you're not leveling up during dusk time, your Rockruff will not evolve regardless of its level.
- Alternatively, you can use multiple Rare Candies from your items to level up your Rockruff.
- The event-specific Rockruff starts at Level 10. If you're only using candies instead of battling, you will need at least 14 candies until Level 24.

Find and select a Rare Candy in your items. This item will allow you to instantly raise the level of a single Pokémon by one.
- Alternatively, you can battle against other Pokémons using your Rockruff. This will gain your Rockruff experience points, and eventually get more levels.

Select Use this item . This will open your Pokémon list, and allow you to select the Pokémon you want to use the candy on.

Select your Rockruff on the Pokémon list. This will use the Rare Candy on your Rockruff, and level it up by one level.
- If you have multiple Rockruffs, make sure to select the one you received as a mystery gift at the beginning of the game. This is the only Rockruff that will evolve into Dusk Lycanroc.

Wait for the evolution animation. When your Rockruff is leveled up to Level 25 or higher during dusk time, it will automatically start its evolution into Lycanroc. You will receive the Dusk Form Lycanroc at the end of the evolution.
- If you level up your Rockruff outside of the in-game dusk time, it will not evolve.
