Many Doritos flavors use cheddar cheese or whey protein, and those ingredients are considered haram. This includes Nacho Cheese (red Doritos), Cool Ranch (blue Doritos), and Salsa Verde (green Doritos). When in doubt, always check for haram ingredients on the packaging to see if they contain cheese, whey proteins, or artificial flavors and colorings.

However, some Doritos don't contain any haram ingredients, so they're halal and okay to eat! The flavors that you can safely eat include: Spicy Sweet Chili (purple Doritos), Sweet & Tangy BBQ (black Doritos), and Tangy All Dressed (light purple Doritos).

There are two things to look at. First off, you can evaluate the ethical nature of a product. If an company does evil things, I'm not going to buy their products, right?  I'd rather give my money to something that's more ethical. So there’s that consideration. However, the main key is knowing whether something is halal. Halal is away from being ethical. Halal means that something has no alcohol, no pork, there's no blood in it. When it comes to Doritos, you need to look at the ingredients, and make sure that there's nothing that there’s nothing within it that would either be considered alcohol, pig, or pork.
