Easy ways to share your wifi password
Is there a way to share the wifi password with someone from my phone instead of having them type it in? I thought there was an easy setting, but I can't find it.
It's super easy to share your wifi password if you both have an iPhone or another Apple device. Just have the other person select your wifi network on their phone and a password request will pop up on your phone. Click 'share password' and then click 'done.' Your phone has to be unlocked for it to pop up, though.
Agree with above! This also works on a Mac computer. If the person is in your contact list and signed into their Apple account, then a notification will pop up on your computer screen asking if you want to share your wifi password.
that would be great, but my friend has an android so this won't work :( please tell me there's another way
You can also create a qr code to share your wifi password on iOS. Open the shortcuts app and search for wifi in the gallery section. Run the shortcut and enter your wifi network name and password to create the qr code. Then share it with whoever you want!
If you're trying to get the password from your friend with an Android, it's really simple for them to share it.
They just need to go into their settings, click "Network and Internet," and choose "Wifi." Tap on the gear icon and then "Share" to generate your QR code.

For those concerned about security: use a QR code ONLY for a guest network and be sure to configure your guest network such that your home network is not visible. I intend to change my guest network name and/or password after each event.
