What's A Haiku, Anyway?
A haiku is a Japanese poem defined by its structure. With three lines and seventeen syllables total, a haiku needs to follow the pattern of 5, 7, 5. Or, 5 syllables in line one, 7 syllables in line 2, and 5 syllables again in line 3. Haikus are most commonly associated with imagery found in nature, like a still pond, crackling fire, or bustling forest. But as you can see above, a haiku can be about anything that you can imagine!

- Line 2: A frog jumps into the pond—
- Line 3: Splash! Silence again.
