Where to find Eevee and what you’ll need to evolve it into Sylveon

Eevee is a Normal-Type Pokémon with the unique ability to evolve into a variety of different Pokémon, including Sylveon, the Fairy-type Eevee-lution that was first introduced in the Pokémon X and Y games. Getting Eevee is as simple as exploring the wild grass and flowered areas of Route 10—and we’re here to show you how. Read on for a complete guide to catching Eevee in Pokémon X and Y (and evolving it into a Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, Glaceon, Leafeon, Espeon, Umbreon, or Sylveon).

Where do you get Eevee in Pokémon X and Y?

You can find and catch an Eevee on Route 10. Eevee has a 5% chance of appearing in grassy areas and a 20% chance of appearing in patches of yellow flowers. When caught, your Eevee will be between levels 19 and 21.

How to Catch Eevee in Pokémon X and Y

  1. Route 10 sits between Geosenge Town (to the north) and Cyllage City (to the south). This route is filled with wild grass and flower beds, which is where you’ll encounter Eevee. [1]
  2. Eevee has a 5% encounter rate in the wild grass patches and a 20% encounter rate in the flower patches, so start your hunt there. It may take a few tries to find Eevee at first, but you should run into one eventually! [2]
    • Eevee caught in the flower patches are typically level 19 or 20, while Eevee caught in the grass are typically level 21.

  3. Eevee's catch rate is on the lower side, so it doesn't hurt to have some stronger Pokéballs on hand. A Luxury Ball can be a helpful option if you plan on evolving your Eevee into an Umbreon or Espeon. [3]
    • Since Eevee is a Normal-type Pokémon, use Fighting attacks to weaken it before going in for the catch. [4] Just make sure your own Pokémon aren't too powerful so you don't instantly KO the Eevee.

How to Evolve Eevee in Pokémon X and Y

  1. Give your Eevee a Fire Stone to evolve it into Flareon, a Fire-type Pokémon. Fire Stones can be found on Routes 9 and 18 and bought in the Stone Emporium in Lumiose City. [5]
  2. Hand your Eevee a Water Stone so it evolves into Vaporeon, a Water-type Pokémon. Water Stones can potentially be found on Routes 8, 9, 12, and 18, and can be purchased in Lumiose City at the Stone Emporium. [6]
  3. Give your Eevee a Thunder Stone to enable its evolution into Jolteon, an Electric-type Pokémon. You can find Thunder Stones on Routes 9, 10, 11, 13, and 18. [7]
  4. Max out your friendship with your Eevee—daily massages in Cyllage City and the Soothe Bell item can help with this. Then, level your Eevee up at night (between 8 PM and 4 AM) to get Umbreon, a Dark-type Pokémon. [8]
    • Giving your Eevee a drink from the Juice Shoppe in Lumiose City can also help improve your friendship with it. [9]
  5. Level up your friendship with your Eevee to the maximum level. Then, level up your Eevee between 4 AM and 8 PM to evolve it into Espeon, a Psychic-type Pokémon. [10]
  6. Bring your Eevee to the Winding Woods, which is south of Route 20. Look for a spot that’s filled with grass and has a rock in the very center—once you’re there, level up your Eevee by battling with it or giving it a Rare Candy so it evolves into Leafeon, a Grass-type Pokémon. [11]
    • You can find Rare Candies on Route 10, Route 16, and many other locations in the game. [12]
  7. Take your Eevee to the Frost Cavern, which is north of Dendemille Town. Enter the Frost Cavern and travel to a room with a glacier in the very center. Approach the glacier and level up your Eevee to evolve it into Glaceon, an Ice-type Pokémon. [13]
    • You’ll have to go upstairs, cross a stream, and go back downstairs to find this room.
  8. Use the in-game Pokémon Amie system to max out all 3 affection categories for your Eevee. Then, use a Fairy-type TM to change up your Eevee’s moveset and level it up to get Sylveon, a Fairy-type Pokémon. [14]
    • You can get the Dazzling Gleam TM from the Laverre City Gym. [15]
