Follow our extensive guide for getting horns
Goat horns are a super cool way to signal to other players where you are. They play 1 of 8 unique sounds depending on what horn you have. Goat horns are easy to get (if you don’t mind a little adventure). You can obtain them when goats ram a solid block, or find them in pillager outpost chests. This wikiHow guide will discuss how to get a goat horn in Minecraft, 2 ways.
Things You Should Know
- There are 8 goat horn variations, 4 from regular goats, and 4 from screaming goats.
- Goats will target something to ram every 30 to 300 seconds. If the target moves out of the way and the goat hits a solid block, they’ll drop a goat horn.
- You can also find regular goat horns in pillager outposts. Look for a tall, brown lookout tower.

Getting Goat Horns from Goats
-
1Make sure the goat still has their horns. You’ll be able to see the intact horns on the goat’s head.[ [4] X Research source [Image:Get a Goat Horn in Minecraft Step 4.jpg|center]]
- Also, normal and screaming goats look identical! You can identify the screaming variant if it makes screaming sounds and rams more often.
-
Locate the perfect ramming location. You need 2 things to arrange a successful goat horn drop:
- The goat. They’ll target a single, unmoving target every 30 to 300 seconds. Then, they rush toward the target. Goats will target players, armor stands, and mobs (except ghasts and other goats).
- The solid block. Find a solid block from the list above.
-
Wait for the goat to charge. Stand in front of the solid block with the goat nearby. When they’re about to charge, they’ll lower their head and rush toward the target.
- Note that goats won’t target players when in Creative mode or Peaceful difficulty.
-
Move out of the way. Avoid the goat so they run into the solid block. Collect the dropped horn and enjoy the unique sound!
