Learn how to figure out what song is playing in the background of a Snapchat video
Download Article
This wikiHow teaches you how to identify a song playing in Snapchat. Snapchat used to have Shazam (a music identifying service) integrated with the app. Snapchat has since removed the Shazam feature from their app . However, you can still use Siri or Google Assistant to identify a song that's playing in a Snapchat video.
Steps
-
Open the Snapchat app. Snapchat has a yellow and white ghost icon. Once you launch the app, it will open to the camera screen.
-
Find a video that's playing a song. Snapchat allows you to add sounds to your videos, but unlike TikTok the name of the sound or song isn't included with the video.Advertisement
-
Activate Siri (iPhone) or Google Assistant (Android). Both Siri and Google Assistant can identify songs that are playing around you, including on your phone.
- iPhone: Say "Siri" or "Hey Siri" if you set up voice activation with Siri. Otherwise, you can activate Siri by pressing and holding the side button (for iPhones with Face ID) or the Home button (for iPhones with a Home button). [1] X Research source
- Android: Say "Hey Google" if you set up voice activation with Google Assistant. [2] X Research source You can also swipe up from the bottom left or right corner of the screen if you have gestures enabled, or you can open the Google Assistant app.
-
Ask "What song is playing?" to Siri or Google Assistant. After a few moments, Siri or Google Assistant will show you what song is playing in the Snapchat video. Note that on iPhone, your device will temporarily turn up the volume very high so Siri can hear the song.
- If Siri or Google Assistant can't identify the song, try turning the volume up on your device.
- If they still cant identify the song and the song has lyrics, try to remember some of the words. Then, search those lyrics in your favorite search engine with the word "lyrics" at the end.
- You can also ask the person who made the video (if you are friends with them) if they remember what song they used.

Tip
- If you used to use Snapchat to identify songs that weren't playing on Snapchat, you can still follow the steps above. Siri and Google Assistant can identify any song that's playing around you, just like Snapchat's now-removed Shazam feature.
