If you have a Kindle Fire tablet, you've probably noticed there is no YouTube app. But that doesn't mean you can't watch YouTube on your tablet! The easiest option is to watch YouTube in the Silk web browser. If you really want the YouTube app, you will need to install several services and apps from outside the Amazon Appstore. This wikiHow guide will teach you how to watch YouTube on your Kindle Fire, both in a web browser and by sideloading the YouTube app.
How can I install YouTube on a Fire tablet?
Instead of installing an app, just open the Silk web browser and go to YouTube.com. Sign in with your account to watch your favorite YouTube videos and playlists. If you want the YouTube app, you need to sideload the Google Play Store and install the YouTube app from there.
Steps
-
1Enable apps from unknown sources. If you really want the YouTube app on your tablet, you'll need to perform several somewhat complicated steps to install the Google Play Store . This method is not supported or certified by Amazon. Downloading something incorrectly or changing settings might brick your Fire tablet, so continue with this method only if you are confident in your ability to install APKs from trusted sources. To get started:
- Open your tablet's Settings.
- Go to Security & Privacy > Apps from Unknown Sources .
- Find "Silk Browser," and tap the toggle next to "Allow from this source."
- Remove your microSD card. Before you continue, if you use an SD card as expanded storage, remove it now to prevent the Google apps from installing on the card. You can reinsert it when you're finished installing the Play Store.
-
2Check your Fire OS version. The files you need to download will vary depending on the version of Fire OS installed on your tablet. To check the version: [1] X Research source
- Open the Settings menu.
- Tap Device Options .
- Tap Device Model or About Fire Tablet .
- Note the device model and Fire OS version. You'll need this information to download the necessary files in the next steps.

3Download the Google Account Manager files. Here are some more popular download links using a reliable source for APK downloads, APK Mirror. Note that some ads on APK Mirror are misleading and display download icons. To download APK files from the site, make sure the download icon matches the site's icon, that it shows the file size, and says "Verified safe to install." The version you download depends on your Kindle Fire tablet model:
- Gen 8 + Newer: Google Account Manager 7.1.2
- Gen 7 + older: Google Account Manager 5.1
- For all files, make sure you're downloading the most recent file that isn't listed as Beta and that you're downloading an APK file, not a bundle.
- Just download the files; we will walk through opening them in the correct order in the next step. The Play Store will not work properly if you install these files in the incorrect order.

-
7Find your downloads in the Files app. Open the Files app and go to the "Downloads" folder to find them.
