P.E.O. is one of the oldest women’s organizations in North America. It has almost 6,000 local chapters with nearly 230,000 members in the United States and Canada. P.E.O. supports women through friendships and the bonds of sisterhood and through educational scholarships, grants, awards and loans. [1] Membership is by invitation, offering potential members the opportunity to learn about the organization and offers chapters the opportunity to get to know prospective members and explain the personal commitment and responsibilities that come with membership.   1. Women over the age of 18 are eligible to be considered for P.E.O. membership. P.E.O. does not discriminate against any woman based on age, ethnicity, religion or education. [2]
