This wikiHow teaches you how to delete or mute a group text conversation, using Android. Deleting the conversation is the only way to leave a group message, but if you receive a new message in the same group, the thread will show up in your inbox again.
Steps

Tap the group you want to leave. Find the group message thread you want to delete on the list of your recent messages, and open it.Advertisement

Tap the â‹® button. This button is in the upper-right corner of your message conversation. It will open a drop-down menu.

Tap Delete on the menu. This option will delete the selected group conversation, and remove it from your Messages app.
- If you're prompted to confirm your action, tap OK to confirm and delete the group.

Tap the group you want to leave. Find the group message thread you want to delete on the list of your recent messages, and open it.

Tap the â‹® button on the top-right. It will open a drop-down menu.

Tap People & options on the menu. This will open your message settings for the selected conversation.

QuestionHow do you delete yourself from group chats?Community AnswerYou don't as you can see from the example. You just delete the conversation and mute all the texts that you would have received in that chat. If you don't mute, it just pops back up in your messages. So to answer the question, you can't delete yourself from group chats.
