Food is one of the most important resources in Minecraft. It allows you to heal and sprint, and is even needed to get some achievements. Being able to get food is vital when you first start out, and thankfully there are many simple recipes available, including beetroot soup. Beetroot soup, which restores 3 full hunger bars, only requires 2 ingredients to make, some beetroot and a bowl. Although beetroot can be somewhat tricky to find, requiring you to find villages or other naturally generated structures, it is well worth it for this easy food source.

Part 1 of 2:
Gathering Materials
-
1Obtain 6 beetroot. The easiest way to get beetroot is by finding a village, as beetroot can be found growing in village farms [1] X Research source . Villages can be found in deserts, plains, taigas, savannas, and snowy tundras [2] X Research source . Once you find a village, look around for farms that contain fully grown beetroot. You'll know a beetroot crop is fully grown when you are able to see redness fully poking out of the farmland.
- Beetroot can also be obtained by finding and planting beetroot seeds. Beetroot seeds can be found in chests in dungeons, mineshafts, villages, woodland mansions, and end cities [3] X Research source . They may also be sold by wandering traders. You can then use a hoe to till dirt near water and plant the seeds. Wait for them to fully grow, then break them to obtain beetroot.
-
Obtain 7 wooden planks , or 3 if you have a crafting table. Wooden planks are most commonly obtained by crafting logs into planks. Logs can be obtained by chopping down trees, which can be found in most Overworld biomes, excluding deserts and oceans. Open your survival inventory and place the logs in the 2x2 crafting space to turn them into planks.
- Planks may also be obtained by breaking the ones that generate as part of structures like villages, mineshafts, strongholds, pillager outposts, shipwrecks, and swamp huts [4] X Research source .

Make a crafting table . If you already have a crafting table, you can skip this step. Open your survival inventory and fill all 4 slots in the 2x2 crafting grid with wooden planks. Drag the crafting table that appears on the right into your inventory and place it.
-
Craft bowls . Open the crafting table and place a wooden plank on the left of the middle row, in the middle of the bottom row, and on the right of the middle row. This will make 4 bowls which should appear in the slot on the right. Drag the bowls into your inventory for later use.Advertisement
