Peanut butter cookies are a delicious traditional treat. Not so surprisingly, you will get a definite taste boost if you add some Reese's Pieces! Chewy, crunchy, colorful — bring a match made in heaven straight to your kitchen with this simple, sumptuous recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 cup peanut butter
- ½ cup butter, softened
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 cup Reese's Pieces/Cups
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 cup flour (You should add more, if needed, to reach the right consistency.)
Steps
-
Preheat the oven to 350ºF (180ºC/gas mark 4/fan oven 160ºC ).
-
Gather all your ingredients. Grab the butter, peanut butter, sugars, Reese's Pieces/Cups (the most important ingredient!), vanilla extract, eggs, and flour.Advertisement
-
Combine the peanut butter, butter, and egg in a large mixing bowl. Mix using a large wire whisk, and make sure that you stir until the ingredients are evenly mixed. The mixture should be of a smooth consistency.
- You can also use an electric mixer on medium speed for the mixing.
-
Add the sugars and the Reese's Pieces/Cups, then mix well. The mixture pictured uses Reese's Cups, so the end result will tend to be rough and chunky. However, if you are using Reese's Pieces, just stir until everything is evenly mixed. You may see some pieces sticking out.
-
Add the egg and the vanilla extract. Vanilla extract will infuse your cookies with a little more flavor, while eggs help mix fats and liquids together, add moisture, and help the dough to rise. Make sure to mix until thoroughly combined.
-
Ensure that the ingredients in the mixing bowl are fully combined. Then, add flour a little bit at a time, while continually mixing. Flour makes the mixture thicker, so make sure you mix thoroughly. If you don't add enough flour, you will have a mixture that is too thin to be used as dough.
- For an electric mixer, set speed to low, then when gets thicker set it to medium speed.
- All ingredients should be evenly distributed and the dough should be workable, but not loose or stiff. It should allow you to pick it up without the dough feeling wet or sticky. It should also be kneadable.
-
Knead the cookie dough with your hands. Then, take a tablespoon of dough at a time and roll into 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide balls. Flatten each ball gently with to shape flat, round cookies.
-
Place the cookies about 1 inch (2.5 cm) apart on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Then. bake them in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes.
-
Let the cookies cool for about 5 minutes before serving. When desserts are fresh out of the oven, they need to be left to cool, otherwise they will be too hot to enjoy and burn your mouth. Once they finished cooling down, you may now enjoy your cookies!
