Choco tacos are an instant hit with most who try them for the first time. Although they can be pricey in the store, they can be made at home for a lot cheaper if you have the right ingredients, with just the wrapper missing! Enjoy this instantly delicious taco-like ice cream treat that is mouth-watering and leaves you craving more and more!

Ingredients

  • 4 Waffle bowls
  • 1 pt Fudge Ripple or Vanilla ice cream
  • 1/4 cup chopped peanuts (enough to coat the taco)
  • 6 oz Chocolate Melting candy or chocolate shell hardening topping (sundae topping that hardens works the best)

Steps

  1. 1
Form the chocolate tacos. Heat the waffle bowls in a microwave enough to soften and shape the bowl into the shape of a taco. The original site said to heat it for 18 seconds, yet failed to say what wattage the microwave that it was tested on was. Do not put the waffle bowls into an aluminum pie plate or on any plates containing the infamous metal rim. Choco tacos, much like their meatier counterpart take the shape of a capital U and must be formed that way, in such a way that there is space for its ice-creamier filling up to the top of each taco you complete.
    • If any of the waffle bowls have additional curved end pieces which overlap themselves, these may be folded back and trimmed off, and which then can be eaten separately once cool.
  2. 2
Allow the tacos to cool. Keep them laying on their sides, but make sure to check them so they don't fold in on themselves as they cool. But do not super-cool these tacos in the freezers, as that will cool them to the point that they will crack very quickly.

  3. 3
Fill the waffle-bowl tacos with your ice cream. Dip your ice cream scoop or spoon into the pint-size ice cream container and place these scoops into the taco. Fill them up so that they have ice cream along most of the taco so that there's only enough room for a topping around all the edges of the taco.
  4. 4
Spread the chocolate shell hardened or sundae topping along the entire open ends and top so that no edge is left uncoated. You may use chocolate melting candy if you'd like - to your tastes.
    • If working with the chocolate shell hardening topping, work quickly, as you'll need to complete the next step before the shell hardens completely.
    • Expect messiness here, especially if you are working with chinaware or plastic dishes. This step can get messy, as you try to maneuver into cracks and crevices of the ice cream, while not allowing the shell to cave into the taco, and while trying to conform the ice cream to the best levels to bring your shell covering to a nice even coat.
  5. 5
Coat the taco's shell with crushed or chopped peanuts. You want to keep the nuts as small as possible. This may be eliminated only if there's someone with a nut allergy who may eat them.
  6. 6
Place each taco into a dish - standing up, so the next step can form the taco.
  7. 7
Place the dish containing the tacos into your freezer so the ice cream doesn't soften and leak out any missed sides, or through the bottom layer.

      Tips

      • The recipe differs fairly widely over the Internet, including as the chocolate-like waffle bowls, and chocolate tacos themselves (it's the closest taco that's as sweet) are only sold in certain marketplaces including Amazon, but not eBay or most offline supermarkets.
