An egg and bacon sandwich is ideal for breakfast or as an easy snack or small meal. Microwaving it makes it faster but you'll need to know how to prepare both the egg and the bacon in the microwave so that it tastes "just right".
Ingredients
- Uncooked bacon
- 1 egg
- Sliced sandwich bread, toasted or untoasted
- Cooking Spray
Steps
-
Spray the bowl with cooking spray so that the egg will release.
-
Get an egg and crack it into the bowl. (*Picture shows a bowl, but if you use a coffee mug, you get a round more uniform egg*) Prick the yolk with a fork so that it won't explode while cooking in the microwave. Put it in the microwave for 1 minute.
- If you put cling film over the egg, the egg will cook better.

Get two slices of bacon . Wait one minute for the plate to cool down in the microwave before cooking the bacon. Cook the bacon until it's done. Most microwaves have a "bacon" cycle, which it is recommended that you use. If there is no "bacon" cycle, start with 90 seconds per slice on highest setting.
- Before placing in the microwave , if you want to get as much fat off the bacon as you can, put paper towels between the bacon to soak up the fat.
-
Spread the sandwich with mayonnaise. This step is optional but it helps to add moisture and flavor. Alternatively, you could add a slice of American cheese and allow it to melt in. Serve immediately. Enjoy.
-
Finished.

Warnings
- This is a handy recipe, but if you use cling film, it should not be touching the egg. Microwave + plastic = toxins in your food. Consider putting a thin ceramic plate on top of the bowl instead. Thanks
