Do you want to know how to merge two or more images into a single one where you can see both images side-by-side? Don't worry; this can be done using the Paint app. You can also overlay images on top of each other. Here's how to merge images in Microsoft Paint on Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Combining Two Images in Paint

To merge images in Microsoft Paint, click Paste in the top-left corner and click Paste from . Select your first image. Click Paste > Paste from and select your second image. Click and drag the second image next to the first. Then, crop the canvas to remove excess space.

  1. Open the Microsoft Paint app. Click the Start menu and type "paint" to quickly find it. You can also find it in your list of apps. If you don't have Paint, you can download it for free from the Microsoft Store .
    • Use this method if you want to merge two photos side-by-side in Microsoft Paint on Windows 10.
    • If you want to place an image on top of another image, see the next section instead.
  2. Be sure to click the part of the button with the down arrow. A drop-down menu should open.

    Select the first image and click Open . The first image will be pasted onto Paint.
    • Alternatively, you can copy the image and paste it into Paint.
    • If the image is too big or too small, click and drag the square at the corner of the image inwards to make it smaller or outwards to make it bigger.

    Adjust the size of the canvas. It must be big enough to fit both of your images side by side. Make it a little bigger than you think you need; you can always crop the extra space out later.
    • To increase the canvas size, drag the square at the bottom-right corner outwards.

    Insert the second image. Click Paste and Paste from again. Select the second image, and then click Open .
    • Alternatively, copy and paste the second image into Paint.

    Move the second image. Once the image is pasted, it will automatically be selected. Click and drag it next to the first image.
    • If needed, click and drag the corner square to resize the image.
    • If the selection border is gone, press CTRL + Z to undo the action, and then add the second image again.

    Crop the canvas (optional). If you have extra space on the side of your image, click and drag the side or corner square to crop the canvas.

    Save the merged image. Click File and Save as in the top-left corner. Enter a name for the new image file, and then click Save . Your new merged image is now saved.
