    Expert Answer
Our fingers can work in this scenario. Be sure to thoroughly wash your hands, place some toothpaste on the tip of a finger and brush your teeth in circular motions.
  • Question
What if I have very little money and few supplies?
    Community Answer
Try to use a little less of each product to make it last. See what happens if you only use half the shampoo or toothpaste you usually do. You can always add more if it doesn't seem like it's enough, but most people use more than they need out of habit. Also, bar soap tends to cost less and last longer than shower gel. A dollar store can be a great place to find low-cost care products if you have one in your area. Some food banks also stock personal care items. Teach yourself how to cut your own hair, or ask a family member. There are many videos about cutting your own hair online.
  • Question
How do I remember these things easily?
    Community Answer
Make a to do list and check off everything you have done and keep up with -- it really helps.
  • Question
What things should I do or not do as a 10 year old starting puberty?
    Community Answer
Shower or bathe everyday. Wear deodorant. Wash your face twice daily if you are starting to get acne. Brush and floss your teeth. Wash your hair regularly. Wear clean clothes and underwear. If you are a female and have started menstruating, then make sure to change your pad/tampon regularly (preferably every 2-4 hours). Have regular doctor and dentist checkups. Drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep, exercise and eat healthily for overall well being. Try to eliminate any negative stress in your life, and enjoy your youth. You should not consume alcohol, smoke, or do drugs. Talk with a trusted adult if you have any questions or concerns.
  • Question
I am in school and we wear special uniforms. How will I wear them every day? And that school allows us to buy only one uniform?
    Community Answer
Wash the under parts of a uniform (shirts, t-shirts, underpants) every night, dry and iron them. Then when you wake up in the morning, your uniform is nice and clean, ready to wear. Wash the outerwear weekly (tunic, sweater, skirt, pants, shorts, etc.). It is a good idea to have five shirts/t-shirts, two skirts/pants, two tunics/dresses and one or two sweaters if possible, to allow you to change them each day and give the other outwear a rest. Dresses and pants should be washed more regularly if it is hot weather.
  • Question
It seems like being hygienic takes a lot of time. How can I do it faster?
    Community Answer
Don't linger in the shower, use a combination shampoo/conditioner and shave while you are in the shower to save time. Taking small steps each day will increase your hygiene and save you time in the long run.
  • Question
How can I mange my hygiene in terms of ear wax?
    Community Answer
For starters, don't use Q-tips inside your ear canal, as this can push the wax further back into your ear. Wash your ears lightly in the shower (but avoid getting too much water inside the ear, for obvious reasons). Ear drops that dry out the ear can help. When you think or know you have excess wax in your ear, get a ear wax kit from a drug store and follow the instructions.
  • Question
How do I keep hygiene when menstruating?
    Community Answer
Wash your hands every time you change your tampon/pad and when you go to the toilet. Change the sanitary ware regularly. Wear clean clothes daily. Shower each night.
  • Question
How do I keep a fresh scent smell throughout the day when having musty problems?
    Community Answer
Shower at least once a day. If you are exercising or if you sweat a lot, you might have to do it twice a day. Wear a mixture of deodorant and antiperspirant. It will keep you fresh longer. Wear some body spray and maybe some scented body wash and lotion can do the trick. Wash your hair regularly.
  • Question
Do I need to shave or wax to be hygienic?
    Jocelyn Bohle
    Community Answer
You do not have to remove body hair to be clean. If you feel better with waxing or shaving, that's great, but it doesn't make you more hygienic.
  • Question
How often should clothing be changed when only worn at home?
    Community Answer
You have to change your clothing every single day. After bathing at night or evening is best. Even though one may only be at home, he's still exerting activity.
  • Question
How do I get rid of feminine odor?
    Community Answer
Soap, water and some good perfume. If you're not at home, get some vagisil wipes and clean your female areas to eliminate the smell. Bring a change of underwear and some panty liners so that if there is any spillage it won't ruin your underwear and you can just put a new pair on.
  • Question
How do I clean my ears?
    Community Answer
By using water in the shower. You can also buy ear cleaning kits from a local drugstore.
  • Question
Do you have to shower in the morning?
    Community Answer
No, you can shower whenever in the day you want to. However, I would suggest showering in the morning to get you fresh and ready for the day.
  • Question
Is it okay if I shower every other day rather than every day?
    Community Answer
Yes. In fact, it can actually be bad for your skin to shower every day as it eliminates natural oils, disrupting natural processes that occur on your skin, hair, and nails. Showering more frequently can also cause dryness and damage to your hair. Some people prefer to shower daily as part of a routine, but many people only need to shower 2-3 times a week, especially if you are sedentary (e.g. not active, sitting in school, not participating in any sports, not exercising regularly during the day, not sweating from exertion).
  • Question
Are there any appliances available to help with wiping and cleaning one's private parts?
    Community Answer
As a woman, wiping comes down to toilet paper and in the shower. Make sure that after you use the restroom, you wipe from front to back to prevent spreading bacteria to the vagina. In the shower, just go over the general area with a wash cloth; the inside cleans itself, no need to worry. Change your underwear twice a day, once in the morning and once before you go to bed. For a man, just wash the area with a wash cloth in the shower and change underwear regularly.
  • Question
What should I do for sweating?
    Community Answer
Wash daily and use an antiperspirant. Avoid over heating and wear natural fibers.
  • Question
Is shaving my pubic hair good for me?
    Community Answer
No, shaving pubic hair doesn't really have any effect on your health.
  • Question
How often should I wash my thick, dry, and curly hair, and how can I prevent it from smelling?
    Community Answer
Use a very mild yet strong shampoo, of course, that smells good! Then use softening conditioner after rinsing the shampoo out. When you dry your hair with a dryer, put it on high and cold wind. This will condition it properly. Your hair should be soft now, then use a good detangler. You should have smooth hair in no time! Try repeating this procedure at least three times a week. If it still smells, then start increasing the number of times you do it.
  • Question
How do I clean my face properly?
    Community Answer
Use warm water to rinse your face, making sure to wash away all traces of your cleanser and scrub. Use a towel to pat your face dry. Try not to rub your face when you dry it, since this can encourage wrinkles and irritate the skin. Apply toner for a smooth appearance.
  • Question
Why can't I avoid bathing and still be hygienic?
    Community Answer
Because bathing is essential. It removes dead skin, dirt, bad smells, etc. It would be extremely difficult for you to be considered hygienic if you never bathed.
  • Question
How frequently should I wash our towels?
    Chanynn-May Webber Kemp
    Community Answer
Throw used towels into your tumble dryer for extra longevity, but wash them at least weekly if you aren't a complete mess. If you shower once a week, then wash your towels at least monthly, although bacterial build up will probably wipe you out before then.
  • Question
How can I keep my skin free of pimples?
    Community Answer
Wash your face daily and keep your pores unclogged.
  • Question
Is it good hygiene to wash my body with my hands instead of a loofah or wash cloth?
    Community Answer
As long as you're still using soap, that's fine.
  • Question
How can I get rid of small boils on my scrotum?

  • Question
How does one become intellectually advanced in the degree of math?

Teach it. After years of research, I have found that explaining why something is the way it is is one of the most beneficial ways to understand formulas and equations and so on.
  • Question
What do I do if I still feel dirty even after showering?
    Community Answer
Obsessive feelings should be discussed with your doctor.
  • Question
How often do I have to shower?
    Community Answer
It's best to shower every day and at least wash your body, but you can wash your hair every 2-3 days if it's not too dirty. If you have sensitive skin or aren't prone to body odor, you could probably get away with showering every other day.
  • Question
How do I use a tampon?
    Community Answer
The box you bought the tampon from typically has an explanation on the inside. If that is lost, seek out someone you know and trust - whether a friend or parent figure.
  • Question
What are some innovative ways of spreading the message about good hygiene?
    Community Answer
Well, that's a tough one. Most people think that stuff is "gross", or "icky", so it's hard to talk about. You might create a website promoting personal hygiene. A website is a great way for people who are shy about asking certain questions to get information. Also, you could have a fundraiser for hygiene products.
