  • Question
Where can I buy the Egyptian Book of the Dead?
    Community Answer
Anywhere that you normally buy books from. There are many translations available on Amazon.
  • Question
Can I still be a practitioner of an Abrahamic religion while still being Kemetic?
    Community Answer
All Abrahamic religions state in their scripture that you must worship the one God. In Christianity, Jesus said, "I am the one way, light and path. Follow me and you will receive eternal life in heaven." Kemetism goes against this and is polytheistic, meaning it has multiple gods. The two are contradictory. Go with your instinct and what feels most believable to you.
  • Question
Are there any useful sites about the basics of Kemetism?
    Community Answer
Definitely take a look at kemet.org - they have an extensive FAQ and informational section. Don't be afraid of doing some book reading, too. I recommend Red Land, Black Land, Eternal Egypt, and Temple of the Cosmos.
  • Question
Do I have to be vegan or vegetarian to be kemetic?
    Community Answer
You do not need to be vegan or vegetarian to be kemetic. However, historians say that ancient Egyptian religion forbade eating certain foods, such as pork. Do some research to find out exactly what foods should be avoided and why.
  • Question
How often should I do libations?
    Community Answer
The House of Netjer has a daily ritual called "senut," and libations are daily. Also, at least once a week do libations for your akhu (ancestors). You can choose whatever time you like to do these.
  • Question
How can I do this if there aren't any Kemetics in my country?
    Community Answer
You can practice on your own! I live in an area with little to no neopagans, and I do all of my practice alone without telling anyone in my life. You can live the word without sharing the word, and you can still be an active and kind member of a family and a society without telling anyone of your faith. In some cases, sharing it may even be dangerous, so make your own call.
  • Question
What books are helpful when being kemetic?
    Community Answer
Anything written by Sharon LaBorde, she has written great books for beginner Kemetics. Try her Following The Sun for an introduction to the religion and then the Circle Of The Sun for more specifics on rituals and celebrations.
