  • Question
My parents are kind of against Christianity. If I obey God, I disobey my parents, and vice versa. What can I do?
    Community Answer
Your parents are really important, but God is more important. God wants you to stay faithful to Him even in times when people are against you. If your parents ask you to do a chore, do it without hesitation. If they ask you to stop reading your Bible, protest politely. Also, if they don't give you time to read your Bible or to pray, then remain faithful to God and use your free time to read your Bible and pray.
  • Question
Can I still be a good Christian if I have sexually sinned a lot in the past?
    Community Answer
Yes. God will forgive those sins, but you shouldn't do it again in the future.
  • Question
My parents aren't that religious, but I'm trying to be. How do I read the Bible and go to church if they don't?
    Community Answer
Find out if a friend who is religious can take you to church. You could tell your parents, too, that they could just drop you off at church and come back to pick you up. Also, if you want to read the Bible, you can figure out a schedule of reading it daily. It is usually best to start with the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the New Testament. You can read, say, one chapter each day either early in the morning or before you go to bed at night, pray, and then continue with your day.
  • Question
How do I know that God is the one guiding me?
    Steven Solheim
    Community Answer
Pray, then listen. When Jesus left this world, he gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit, which was placed in our hearts. Ever had an idea and a voice in the back of your head said, "No, that's a bad idea"? That's God.
  • Question
I am attending a school where there aren't many Christians, and a church where I don't feel the spirit. I feel like I'm drifting away from God. What do I do?
    Community Answer
Pray to God at home. It doesn't matter if not everyone shares your views. God won't mind.
  • Question
What would I write about in my "faith journal"? I write in a journal, and I am Christian, but I am unsure what you mean when you say "faith journal."
    Community Answer
I am not completely sure either, but I do have a journal where I keep thoughts that God has given me or prayers, moments I have with God, etc., so I won't forget. I often use these as notes when I want to talk to someone about God. I don't think there are specific rules or anything, write whatever you see fit.
  • Question
How do I pray because when I do pray it does not sound right?
    Community Answer
Speak from the heart, God/Jesus hears you be of a sincere heart. Remember speak as if someone else was right in front of you. Tell him everything he's here for you and always will be.
  • Question
My family isn't religious and i don't know how to start going to church and praying without guidance from other people, anyone else who has had to start this themselves. Any advice?
    Community Answer
I feel you. Many people do. One of the biggest things you need to be careful about in choosing a church that is actually Christian. This is going to sound a little weird but don't run off on me. Make sure that your church agrees with the Nicene Creed. No that is not outdated, that is the basis of Christianity. Churches that follow the creed and are actually christian are, Bethel, and New Life. If you aren't sure if the church you've chosen is actually christian, go up to the pastor and ask him if they believe in the Nicene Creed, If they show any hesitation, or ask what it is, that isn't your church.
  • Question
It would be cool if I could spread the gospel to my parents without feeling scared and I don't think they would care about what I have to say about it, what can I do?
    Joyce Hofer
    Community Answer
You could only try, God blesses people who tell his word to other lost people. Your parents could change and accept Christianity you would have an accomplished feeling.

  • Question
What are the best ways to volunteer as a 13 year old?
    Community Answer
There are many good ways to volunteer as a 13 year old: You can give your time to help others by taking care of the environment around you (pick up trash, water plants, etc.). You can join clubs and organizations through either your church or school that are dedicated to help others or bring joy to a community (dance, choir, scouts club, etc.). You can volunteer as an assistant teacher at Sunday or preschool, or visit those in nursing homes. No matter what you can give, God loves you.
  • Question
Does God see us when we're naked?
    Community Answer
Yes, but our clothes don't keep him from seeing all of us, so it really doesn't matter.
  • Question
How do I get closer to God?
    Community Answer
Make an effort to read a passage from the Bible and pray for a few minutes each day. Find a church and attend regularly. Get involved in a small group or Bible study there to connect and fellowship with other believers who can help you with your Christian walk. Also find something to use your gifts and talents in the church, such as helping out in the nursery or singing in the choir.
  • Question
How much should I tithe as a Christian?
    Community Answer
Deuteronomy 14:22-26 talks about that, and it says you should tithe 10%, which is not that much.
  • Question
I cannot understand the Bible, it seems so old-fashioned. Is there a more modern version?
    Community Answer
There are plenty! And this is the most exciting of times to be reading the Bible, because there are so many amazing and fun Bible studies to try. Visit your local Christian bookshop and ask for Bibles which are written in a modern, fun way, even one with illustrations if you like that sort of thing.
  • Question
I think of myself as Christian. Sometimes, I don't mean to be bad or have doubts, but they pop into my mind. I always try my very best, but I feel like I'm not doing enough. What's wrong with me?
    Community Answer
Mistakes are human. If we were perfect, Jesus wouldn't have had to die on the cross for us. I have mild OCD and have struggled with similar questions to yours before, so if you're beating yourself up because you're not perfect, it might actually be an anxiety disorder rather than a call to holiness. You can always talk to a therapist (a Christian therapist if you want) to help you figure out if that's what's going on.
  • Question
I feel uncomfortable, as I have committed many sins that I shouldn't have, are there any tips you can give me for going to confession without doubt or being scared?
    Community Answer
The priest is not there to judge you, and they're not going to judge you. Trust me. It's their job to listen to you with an open mind and to guide you. You have nothing to worry about. If you feel that your sins have been very serious, feel free to be re-baptized.
