QuestionI'm a newbie at this but have an O.C. and want to find out about public RP and how to get started. What can I do?Community AnswerI recommend practicing. Though it won't make you perfect; it'll definitely make progress. After you're confident in your writing skills - edit your character. Mold and shape him/her the way you want - but be aware of 'Mary Sue' traits. Once you're confident in your skills and character - join a website. I suggest Roleplay.me or RPNation. Even Chatzy or Omegle works.

QuestionIf I finish a story while roleplaying with someone, is it bad to ask if I did well, especially if it was my first time actually roleplaying?Community AnswerNo, it's not taboo in the roleplaying world. It's only bad if you point out that someone else was bad.
-
QuestionWhat if I'm stuck in a roleplay situation and I don't know what to do?Community AnswerThe good thing about online roleplaying is that other people are playing with you. Don't be afraid to ask: "I'm confused right now. Could someone tell me what to do?"
-
QuestionHow can I become good at describing my actions?Community AnswerI personally do research on descriptive words, and I write often. Read dictionaries, observe other roleplayers, read a lot of books, and you'll soon pick up on good words for describing. For example, I use the word "wearily" if my character is very tired, as in "Matthew yawned wearily." It takes time to build on your roleplay skills, don't be afraid to look up words or ask other roleplayers around you for advice.
-
QuestionHow do I insert myself into a storyline?Community AnswerFirst, ask the people involved if you can join. Then, have your character wander around until they bump into the other characters.
-
QuestionIs it a good thing in a role play, to act out a scene of a show while introducing yourself?Community AnswerProbably not. Introduce yourself first, and then act out a scene, so as not to confuse anyone.
-
QuestionWhat do role playing characters talk about, and how can I start?Community AnswerIt depends on what's happening at the time. A war? Talk about strategy. Star Wars? Talk about how the Sith are growing stronger.
-
QuestionIf people are ruining the roleplay, what do I do about it?Community AnswerI usually ignore them or if they are trolling persistently, I will ask the other party members privately if they'd like to move somewhere "quieter." This can sometimes be a bit sensitive if the player who is ruining the rp is actually trying to rp though. My advice is to just stick it out if that's the case. One night of a bad rp won't kill you and besides, if you try playing along with those people, sometimes you can bring them back around to the kind of rp you're looking for.

QuestionI'm going to RP as the Joker and I'm not sure where to start?Community AnswerWell, if you're the Joker, go crazy! The point of the Joker is being unpredictable, so do something that is out of the bounds of what is considered normal by way of socializing and fitting in. The Joker breaks the social conventions and upends expectations, so surprise people. And don't be afraid to offend while in the role, it's part of the character.
-
QuestionHow do I roleplay if I'm extremely shy?Community AnswerIf it's a fandom RP, a lot of people will have a similar personality to you. It would be like walking into a room filled with a bunch of clones of yourself, and you're comfortable around yourself, right?
-
QuestionWill it help me if I keep written notes on all of my character's information?Community AnswerFor some writers, this is essential. Do what works -- and if you're not sure what works, experiment to find out.
-
QuestionShould I extend it or should I try to finish it as soon as I can? How long should the perfect roleplay be?StephenTop AnswererThat all depends on the story line and players involved. Roleplays can last anywhere from a couple days to months or even years. There's no minimum or maximum limit, you just go until either the story ends or you're bored of it.
-
QuestionWhat do I do if people judge my character?Community AnswerAccept any constructive criticism or tips from other roleplayers and keep refining and improving on your character as you go. Everyone has their interpretation of your character and are entitled to their opinion, but you don't have to listen to anyone. Make the changes that you agree with and disregard those that you don't, but always be open to listening.
-
QuestionWhy won't some people let me into their public RP's?Community AnswerIt could be that they think of you as a "noob" and would prefer to play with someone more experienced. I would just move on and find another RP to join.
-
QuestionWhat do I do if someone joins my roleplay and suddenly asks to fight?Community AnswerIf it's a fight to the death and you do not want to fight, then deny politely. If it's only a normal fight to prove someone's capabilities, it could be a great opportunity to improve.
-
QuestionHow do I get rid of roleplaying anxiety? It's hard for me to roleplay with strangers because of fear of messing up.Community AnswerWho cares what they think? Just relax and try your best. If you think you did well, you did. Here are some tips: Don't use the word "said" too much. Write longer than 1 line. There is a wiki on Fandom called Animal Jam Clans Wiki. They have a roleplay forum where you can create your own roleplay, it is great and against the rules to be rude. Try it out!
-
QuestionHow do you make a person fall in love with you over the Internet?Community AnswerTreat her nicely. Be helpful and polite. Ask questions about her interests and her life, and get to know her better. You can't make someone fall in love with you by any means, but this is the way to establish a good relationship and express interest, from which you can see what develops.

QuestionWhat is the best "bad guy" role for someone in a high school role play?Community AnswerIt depends, it can be a rude, tough character that is popular, but don't make it a Gary Stu or Mary Sue. Give them a weakness and a personality that is believable. Another "bad guy" role is a bossy, short-tempered character that doesn't get along well with classmates. It really depends on what you are looking for!
-
QuestionI'm really bad at talking to new people, how do I join without being weird?Community AnswerNo one will think you're weird. Even if they do, you're online, you'll likely never see/know these people in real life. Who cares what they think. If it's a fandom roleplay, chances are the other players will relate to you and you'll get along well. Don't stress or overthink it, just have fun.
-
QuestionHow do I deal with someone who is always grouchy about roleplay, even though they're always bothering me about it?UndertaleFanGirl728Community AnswerYou can try asking about why they are acting that way. If that doesn't work, politely ask them to leave. If they refuse, ask them again. If they ignore that, then block him.
-
QuestionHow do I handle it when someone makes a character and claims to be my character's significant other or best friend?Smartin KochisCommunity AnswerThere are two solutions to that problem. Either you just roll with it and alter your previous ideas about what you were going to roleplay, or you politely tell them what you had planned to do as your specific character. If they refuse to accept your change, either just accept it or try a new roleplaying group.
-
QuestionHow do I deal with people cheating in online RPG games?Community AnswerTry playing on a secure website without hackers, spamming, etc.
-
QuestionWhat should I do if someone is power playing or trying to be the center of attention?Community AnswerStart by politely asking them to stop. If they refuse, let a moderator know. If they don't come and fix it, ignore that player and ask others to do the same. When they realize they aren't getting what they want, they'll either shape up or quit playing.
-
QuestionWould a temporary god mode be acceptable?Community AnswerIt's not conventional; ask the people you're roleplaying with if they think it's all right for you to use ''temporary god mode'' as long as it doesn't ruin the roleplay.
-
QuestionIs it okay to not let someone in your roleplay if you are privately roleplaying with a few people?Community AnswerYes, you and your party are allowed to determine who you want in your group.
-
QuestionHow do I ask somebody to respond to the roleplay without sounding needy?Community AnswerYou could do something small to remind them, like 'like' one of their posts on social media. You could also ask them if everything is okay or how they're doing. This might remind them to respond to your roleplay.
-
QuestionWhat do I do if people make fun of my character or the way I roleplay?Community AnswerAsk them what you can do to improve. Most people are just jerks and will back off if they are just being mean. If you ask, people who actually disagree will hopefully be willing to help a little bit. If they respond by saying, "Just stop being stupid," ask what you can do to not be stupid. Be a bit of a smart aleck if you have to.
-
QuestionI have been role playing for about 4 months now, but I'm still afraid that my OCs are too weak. Is there a way to find out?AwdchickCommunity AnswerYou should test them out on your most unbiased friend and hopefully they will tell you if they don't seem as strong as they should be. You could also message them to the best roleplayer you know and ask their opinion.
-
QuestionWhat do if my RP partner reads my next paragraph and doesn't respond?StephenTop AnswererGive it time. If quite a while passes, say a couple hours/days, try messaging them and asking politely if they want to continue playing. It could be that they lost interest or are just busy.
-
QuestionHow can I ask to join a roleplaying group?Community AnswerAsk the owner, a member, or a staff member politely. Simply saying, "Hey, can I join your roleplay" will work fine.
