  • Question
How can I decide which branch of engineering I should pursue?
    Community Answer
You should research the different types of engineering and pursue whichever seems most interesting to you.
  • Question
Are the numbers in tests or papers important in getting a job?
    Community Answer
They can be, as in your final subject marks may serve as part of the filtering process when employers review your transcripts. The best thing to do is to try to score more than average in theory, score maximum in practical and have excellent communication skills. Know everything about your subject and you will easily get the job.
  • Question
I want to become a civil engineer but people discourage me because I am a female.
    Community Answer
One's sex has nothing to do with one's ability to do engineering -- all you need is a human brain and a willingness to study hard. The real problem relates to societal expectations for male and female roles and this is harder in some countries than in others, and can be hard in engineering which is somewhat of a male dominant field. But it is changing and there is a lot of support in some countries for women undertaking this study, so try to find a university or college with such support. It will only continue to improve and engineering needs more women to get involved and help all of society, that cover all types of much needed engineering projects, not just those designated as needed by one group of people.
  • Question
How do I become an electrical engineer?
    Community Answer
You can become an engineer by practicing physics and mathematic equations daily.
  • Question
What are the marks of a successful engineer?
    Community Answer
One who can handle the machines easily -- for example, a computer engineer handles PCs and Macs with ease, a mechanical engineer handles CNC , lathes etc. with confidence and an electronic engineer handles ICS , current, etc., with competence. And the bridges stay up, the dams don't break and the computer systems stay functioning, and so forth...
  • Question
How can someone improve their math skills?
    Community Answer
Practice, practice and more practice. Look up practice problems online, invest in a good tutor so that you can work at your own pace and try to learn the logic behind a formula or problem so you can understand when to utilize a particular math skill.
  • Question
What is the importance of an engineer?
    Community Answer
The engineer is the most important person in a technology company. He or sh guides the labour, handles the machines and electronic equipment, etc. Managers won't run the company without an engineer, as the engineer is the one who solves all of the technical issues, etc. If you are an engineer, then you can design your own machines and start a new business. Engineers can manage, solve, guide, design, do upgrades, etc.
  • Question
I want to be a mechanical engineer. I am good in math but not very good in science. Do you have any advice for me?
    Community Answer
There are many great YouTube tutorials that help you understand a subject you are struggling with the most. Chemistry, for example, is required in major aspects in engineering. If you have trouble combining chemical equations, consider YouTube or a tutor.
  • Question
What do I need to study more to be an electrical engineer?
    Community Answer
Mathematics, physics (electromagnetism, but do not forget about other sections), three phase systems, microcontrollers and microprocessors, industrial processes etc.
  • Question
Can I become an engineer if I'm not very social?
    Community Answer
Yes. Plenty of engineers are introverts.
  • Question
What type of engineering is best?
    Community Answer
All are the best, but the most popular types engineering are electrical, civil, and chemical engineering, because all of them are very applicable in the daily life and the job opportunities are in high percentage.
  • Question
Can I be an engineer if I wear glasses?
    Community Answer
Of course. Plenty of engineers wear glasses.
  • Question
What is the most effective engineering in Lahore, Pakistan?
    Community Answer
Petroleum engineering. Additionally, you could major in chemical engineering. Ask yourself what resources or technology are most used in your area.
  • Question
What type of extracurricular activities could I do in college to gain experience and build my resume?
    Community Answer
There are thousands. Any sport always helps. Charitable work is good on many levels, for you and your career as well as the charity. You can join staff/student liaison committees, student union, student newspaper or yearbook, etc. Work experience will also be very helpful. Try to do as many different activities as you can (without neglecting your studies). Eventually you will find something that you will absolutely love.
  • Question
Can I become an engineer without physics if I'm very good at math?
    Community Answer
You will need some physics in every engineering field I've encountered, but if you don't think you're good at physics yet, don't be discouraged. Having a strong math background will be extremely helpful, and if you are studying engineering in college you will have plenty of opportunities to improve your physics skills (and lots of other skills!) in the areas you need for your particular discipline. Everything just takes practice, and the willingness to ask questions of teachers and peers when you need help.
  • Question
What can I do to be perfect engineer in the future?
    Community Answer
The philosophy of engineering is not to be perfect, but to always be improving. Focus on learning how to solve problems, understand new things, and ask the right questions to help you get where you need to be. Engineering is a very collaborative field, because no one is perfect, and it is important to be comfortable asking for help and input when you need it. If you are working towards becoming an engineer, building skills in math, physics, or chemistry can help you get a head start, but so can looking around you and trying to notice how things work in the world and what can make designs more or less effective.
