    Expert Answer
You can try painting the entire surface with a base color and letting it dry completely. After that, start painting thin layers of the next color on top of it. The base layer will show through the top layer of paint to help blend your colors.

No. Use a high proportion of glazing liquid to produce a very transparent glaze or wash, and/or a very transparent color.

You can make an approximate black by mixing green and red.
  • Question
How can I not have brush strokes show on a canvas?
    Sara Morgan
    Community Answer
One way to not have brush strokes is to use a nice, fine brush. Clumpy bristles make more visible strokes. Another way is to use plenty of water. If the paint is wetter, it blends more evenly. If you use brush strokes in two directions (such as first horizontally, and then diagonally), brush strokes will be much fainter.
  • Question
I want to use three colors at once with a dragging technique to look like rough wood look. How can I do this?
    Community Answer
Try a palette knife. Place the desired colors on your palette in a way that you can get a bead near the leading edge of the knife as you pull it on your canvas, similar to how many painters create mountains.
  • Question
is there a certain type of paper/canvas I should use for acrylics?
    Rosie V.
    Community Answer
You can use any kind of canvas. You probably would want to use thicker, artist quality paper if you're going to do it on paper. You can use regular old copy paper, but in my personal experience the paints got absorbed by the paper very easily and didn't blend properly. But with lots of a patience you can make a painting look nice on copy paper, you would probably only want to paint on this paper if you're just trying to get some practice in.
  • Question
What kind of brush do I use when blending acrylic paint?
    Community Answer
It is better to use synthetic brushes and not natural brushes, as acrylic paints harm natural brushes.
  • Question
How do I blend acrylic paint vertically?
    Community Answer
The same way you do horizontally. Just as shown in the steps above. Use the same brushes and as they recommend and you will be fine.
