  • Question
Will burping help quiet down digestive noises?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
You can 'swallow' air and use that to burp, which you can do as much of as you want. But you can also use gases from your stomach that bubble up and burp with those, which is a more natural process. The latter you can only do as much of as there are gases, and reducing the amount of gases by burping will indeed quiet down the digestion. But there doesn't seem to be much of a causal link here, no.
  • Question
Is it normal to feel like I have to pee out of nowhere when doing an instant burp?
    Tom De Backer
    Top Answerer
It happens, yes. Try writing a 4 with your left hand while writing a 6 with the right. We're used to using our hands more or less symmetrically, so one wants to follow the other. The same is true for the exits from our bodies. We're used to keeping them shut all the time, and it can happen that as you unexpectedly burp, the restraint placed by your body on those exits is lifted simultaneously. But hey, you can train this.
