  • Question
When I purchase a used Can-Am Spyder motorcycle out-of-state, get the bill of sale, signed-off title, keys, and manual, what about the tag?
    Dorsey Kelley III
    Community Answer
Your best bet is to call the motor vehicle department in that state about getting a temporary tag for a non-resident purchase.
  • Question
Can I ride the bike home with no road tags?
    Community Answer
I don't recommend this, as the cops are not going to accept "I'm just going home" as an excuse, and you'll get a ticket.
  • Question
How long does the entire purchasing process take?
    Community Answer
To sign all the paperwork should take about a day. To actually have the bike in your hands may take about five days.
  • Question
Is it cheaper to buy new in Holland or the UK?
    Community Answer
UK, because you get various offers from a lot of dealers than compared to Holland which has less dealers.
  • Question
What is the law on getting a vehicle home after buying it, i.e., tax and insurance?
    Dorsey Kelley III
    Community Answer
In the US, insurance is a must for any vehicle you are driving, even if you just bought it. A dealer is not allowed to let you drive a vehicle off the lot until you prove minimum insurance protection. A bill of sale, depending on your state, proving purchase that day, is normally enough to keep you from getting a ticket as long as you go to your motor vehicle department by the next business day. If you do get a ticket, the bill of sale and proof of registration by the next business day can help you if you go to court.
