    Can Eskimo puppies be fashionable?
    Community Answer
Of course, just get them a nice trim and some fancy outfits, or maybe a collar with some sparkly "bling."
  • Question
Do they get along with other breeds or animals?
    Community Answer
Eskies get along with cats and dogs if introduced at an early age. They don't do well around small animals, as with many Nordic breeds.
  • Question
Are American Eskimo dogs easy to train? And how much do they cost?
    Guinea Piggles
    Community Answer
American Eskimo dogs are intelligent and easy to train, though they will not listen to you if you lose your patience and yell at them. Puppies are on average $600 - $1000 and fully-grown dogs are somewhere between $1000 - $3000 to buy. Or, it costs around $300 to adopt one from a shelter, if they have one.
  • Question
I'm currently living on the west side of the US, and I am unable to find any American Eskimo dogs, do you have any suggestions on where I should get my dog?
    Community Answer
Try buying from a breeder or online. Only buy from reputable sites though, ones associated with responsible breeding. There is help on the American Kennel Club site for finding responsible breeders.
  • Question
Are they really indoor pets? My American Eskimo runs to the neighbors if we let her out and doesn't come back.
    Guinea Piggles
    Community Answer
This is not usually normal behavior for an American Eskimo dog. They are indoor dogs and aren't suited for life in the backyard. Try training your dog not to run off.
  • Question
How are male American Eskimos around other male dogs?
    Linnie
    Top Answerer
American Eskimos are seldom aggressive, and many do just fine with other dogs if properly introduced and socialized. They may be prone to jealousy if the other dogs receive more attention than them, however.
  • Question
When can this puppy be trained?
    Stephanie Meanswell
    Community Answer
One of the many good things about training your American Eskimo puppy is that it is a very intelligent dog that learns very quickly. Potty training him is less about struggle than it is about time. You may need to wait until he is at least 10 to 12 weeks of age or you will be wasting your time.
