You'll either start to get a slow drip from your faucet or you'll still have water trickling when you go to shut it off.

If you believe the task is beyond your DIY abilities, your best bet is to call a plumber. It's not a good idea to start tearing apart your faucet without being confident in what you're doing!
  • Question
Are washers all one size or how do I know what size to buy?

    Community Answer
The one that fits snug into the attachment you're fitting.
  • Question
Took screw from cap, and cover will still not come off?

Try spraying a lubricant like WD-40 into the connection joints, then let it penetrate for 5-10 minutes before trying again. If it still won't budge, contact a plumber so you don't damage the faucet or sink.
  • Question
Do I have the tap fully open or closed to change the tap valve?
    Community Answer
I usually have the tap half open. If the tap is firmly off it applies pressure to the threads on the tap body making it hard to undo, and if you have the tap closed when you reassemble then you might not get the tap body fully screwed on leading to leaks.
