No, not if you unplug it. There's no reason for the blades to start running if there's no power running to the fan.

It's not much different from the processes described above. You just vacuum the dusty areas or wipe them off with a microfiber cloth. The main difference with a tower fan is that you have to open the back to access the filter. You can typically do this pretty easily with a screwdriver, but the process may differ a bit from model to model.

It's pretty straightforward. The one thing some people don't do is take their fan outside to clean it. If you clean your fan indoors, all that dust and junk is just going to end up back in your fan eventually.
  • Question
How do I clean a circulatory fan?
    Community Answer
Gently wipe a wet cloth over the blades. Repeat this every few weeks or as needed.
  • Question
What if my fan doesn't need a screw driver I still can't figure out how to get it opened to clean the blades?
    GEttinger
    Community Answer
Does your fan have tabs on the front of the grate? Usually, you can flip these to get access to the blades. If you're still unsure, refer to the fan manufacturer website and look for a user manual or guide for your fan.
  • Question
How do I clean the blades of my desk top fan?
    Community Answer
Unplug the fan from the electrical point. Wet a cloth and wring it out until it is damp but has no dripping water. Then just wipe the blades gently. Allow to air dry completely before using again.
