How do you get soap scum off shower glass?

Your best bet is to use an effective cleaner. If you have a commercial glass cleaner, spray a little bit of it on a small area of your shower door, then wipe it off with a clean cloth to test it. If it works, repeat this process on the rest of the shower door to clean all the soap scum off of it. You can also make your own cleaner with vinegar and dish soap. Bring a small pot of vinegar to a boil. Then, using a measuring cup, add equal parts of hot vinegar and dish soap to a spray bottle and mix the ingredients together. Spray the solution onto the soap scum and let it sit for at least 30 minutes, then try scrubbing it off. As a last resort, you can use toilet bowl cleaner. Though it's not designed for shower glass, it can be effective at removing soap scum.
  • Question
What is the best thing to use to clean glass shower doors?

It depends on how dirty or cloudy the glass is. For a quick cleaning option, use a commercial glass cleaner. Spray down the glass with the cleaner and wipe it off with a clean cloth to see if that does the trick. You could also use a damp magic cleaning eraser or dryer sheet for small jobs. Soak the magic cleaning eraser or dryer sheet in a small amount of clean water. Then, scrub the scummy area in a small, circular motion to clean it. For heavy duty stains, mix together vinegar and baking soda to form a strong cleaning paste. Pour 1/2 cup (115 grams) of baking soda into a small bucket, add about 1⁄4 cup (59 mL) of white vinegar to the bucket, and then stir the ingredients into a paste. Dip a clean sponge into the paste and wipe it on your shower door. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse and scrub it off to clean the glass shower door.

How do I keep soap scum from forming?

There are a few things you can do to help prevent soap scum from building up in your shower. For starters, try using body wash instead of bar soap, which often contains organic animal fat that can cause soap scum. Keeping your shower door dry whenever you’re not actually in the shower is a great way to prevent the buildup of soap scum as well as mold. Use a clean towel to keep wipe down your door after you take a shower. Another option is to put some baby oil or vinegar on a scouring brush, then scrub the oil or vinegar onto the entire surface of the shower. Rinse it off with warm water. Try this out once a week to keep your shower scum-free.
