  • Question
Is it normal to bleed after two weeks?
    Community Answer
Yes, but be careful as it could be infected. Check with a piercer or doctor if you can, and clean regularly. Don't remove the piercing to clean it even if you think the hole is infected; this will cause more irritation and make it harder to insert again.
  • Question
When I'm cleaning my nose piercing, the stud slides in and out. Is this normal?
    Community Answer
Yes, this is perfectly normal. The sliding motion can actually help the cleaning solution reach deeper into the piercing, which is a good thing.
  • Question
They gave me a small bottle liquid to clean my piercing at the studio; must I used it instead of salt water?
    Community Answer
Yes, you should always use what the piercing studio gives you. You can use a sea salt solution after you've used up the solution from the studio.
  • Question
Is my nose piercing infected if it isn't red or painful but there's yellow discharge?
    Community Answer
You may want to see a doctor to be safe. If it becomes painful or the discharge becomes bloody, definitely see a doctor.
  • Question
I've had my piercing done 6 months ago now and I have a red bump. It normally goes down quite small and is my normal skin color but then flares up here and there I just can't get rid of it. What can I do?
    Community Answer
You might have a bacterial infection or the scar tissue around the piercing might be inflamed. The piercing is already quite old so you should not be having any healing issues unless you have a cheaply made nickel jewelry in it. Change your ring to a titanium one and your symptoms might go away on their own. Otherwise, go see a doctor.
  • Question
I got my nose ring done three weeks ago. I clean it every single day with warm water and sea salt but sometimes it hurts when I touch it is that normal?
    Community Answer
I had mine done about 5 or 6 weeks ago and this is the first week that it's stopped hurting, so I think you should be fine. Just make sure to keep rinsing it out. As long as it doesn't look infected I think it being a little tender is still normal.
  • Question
I got 2 nose rings on one side (hoops). Is it normal if it still hurts? (I got them today some hours ago.)
    Community Answer
Yes. It will hurt for a few days. If it hurts longer than a month, ask a professional.

  • Question
Is it okay to go swimming the day after I get my nose pierced?

  • Question
Can I just clean it with hot water?
    Skærvind ·
    Community Answer
I wouldn't recommend using hot water for a fresh piercing, as it can be pretty uncomfortable. You're recommended to use saline solution or a sea salt/water soak (maybe half a teaspoon of sea salt dissolved in around 8 ounces of warm water, not hot), around two to three times per day. After you've soaked for five to ten minutes (or sprayed with a wound wash or sea salt solution), you can gently use a q-tip to brush away some of the "crust" that forms around your piercing. Don't twist it around, as this will irritate your skin and may make healing time longer.
  • Question
Why do piercing bumps develop even though I kept it clean?
    Community Answer
Things can get infected even if you try keeping it clean. Get it checked out by a doctor if you're worried.
  • Question
I got my nose pierced by a friend 5 days ago, and it's red and still hurts. Is it infected?
    Community Answer
Piercings take a while to heal. Make sure you're cleaning it regularly. If it's red, swollen, and/or if there is any pus/discharge, you should take the piercing out so that it can heal. If the area starts to look worse, see a doctor.
  • Question
I got my nose pierced 3 months ago and changed my nose ring too soon. I get keloids and infections that I’m able to get rid of on my own but if it keeps happening. Should I just take it out?
    Ashlynn V
    Community Answer
Yes, in any sort of situation where irritation or infection occurs in an ongoing way, it is safest to remove the piercing. In more serious cases, you can develop a staph Infection.
  • Question
I pierced my nose almost 1 week ago. It's very much yellow discharge and it is hardened. While cleaning, I can't remove the yellow discharge. Is it fine? I am using a diamond ring.
    Ashlynn V
    Community Answer
Clean the discharge and the wound itself and schedule a doctor's appointment to make sure there's no infection or signs of infection. Piercing your own nose is dangerous and makes you highly susceptible to infection.
  • Question
My piercing hurt then I removed the rust jewelry from it thinking it is the cause of it and replaced it with a new one. My nose bump recurred, why? Am I safe?
    Community Answer
Jewelry should not rust. If it does, it will cause skin problems. Try buying pure metal pieces, like original silver or gold jewelry. Silver studs are very reasonable and easily available in jewelry stores or accessory stores. Make sure you specify pure metal and if it rusts, take it back to the shop and have it exchanged or replaced. Make sure the nose remains wet or moist inside. So, it should be given the best care after piercing. Keep it washed twice daily. Wash your jewelry too. Clean the pierced hole by inserting the jewelry inside. Keel it dry then.
  • Question
My stud looks like it’s sinking into the piercing, is that normal?
    Community Answer
No. The hole is usually very tiny. And the stud is the width thin needle or thread. Does your stud actually come out from the inside as it sinks in or it just look like it is sinking? Either your piercing is bigger or the stud is too thin. It's not a problem because piercing tends to join back if no accessory is put inside. If the hole is bigger, don't insert the stud for a night or a few nights, as you sleep, so the hole shortens. When you feel it is small enough to hold your stuff in place, you can wear your stud overnight as well.
  • Question
Can I clean my new piercing with antibacterial soap instead of sea salt?
    Community Answer
Yes. You can choose soap or face wash that goes directly on your face, without worrying.
  • Question
How do I blow my nose?
    Community Answer
The accessory might be secured so you can clean your nose as you like. Just use your finger. For blowing when you have a cold or cough, use tissues or ear buds to absorb it in. Throw away the buds after use.
  • Question
Can a normal table salt soak help to reduce my bump?
    Lily
    Community Answer
Maybe, but probably not. It is not the same as a saline solution. Saline solution is fairly cheap, so I recommend you just get salon solution.
  • Question
Will my piercing fall if I go on roller coasters?
    AshJ88
    Community Answer
Your nose stud shouldn't fall out as long as it's secured with a backing. If you're worried about it being loose, it doesn't hurt to have a piercer check to make sure it's completely secure.
  • Question
Yesterday I snaged my piercing while I was sleeping now its swollen what should I do to make it better. I cleaned it but still nothing.
    Community Answer
Be careful with the piercing and only clean it, otherwise try not to touch it because it's irritated and just needs to calm down.
  • Question
Is it normal for the nose to bleed after being freshly pierced?
    Community Answer
Yes, completely normal. I've had mine done a few times, and they all bled. If the bleeding continues after a day or so, head back to the place you got it pierced.
  • Question
The person who pierced my nose said to just use water to clean it but that doesn’t seem to be working. Help?
    Community Answer
That is because you need to use saltwater, not plain water. Just water will do absolutely nothing to help it heal or even help in any way or form.
  • Question
I got my piercing 4 days ago it doesn't hurt at all not feels any pain. It's calm and it is itching, is it normal? I clean it twice with spirit as a piercer advised, will it heal?
    Community Answer
Use saltwater rather than alcohol, which will dry it out too much. Piercings take 6-8 weeks to heal at a minimum.
  • Question
If I take out my nose ring and pus comes out (there’s also a bump inside and outside my nose), is that bad? In the first month I used hospital alcohol wipes to clean it, is that bad?
    Community Answer
In using hospital wipes, it means you have taken all the moisture out of the piercing, therefore your skin cant adapt to the hole for the piercing and so it's remained an open wound. Clean it with salt water and leave it alone. It will begin to heal on its own now.
  • Question
I got my nose piercing 4 days ago, can I change the ring?
    Community Answer
No! You'll risk infection if you change it too early. Leave the original jewelry in for 6-8 weeks.
  • Question
I just got my piercing yesterday, and I clean it 2 or 3 times a day so it doesn't get infected, do you think that will work?
    Community Answer
You should be fine. Just follow all the aftercare instructions your piercer gave you, and keep an eye on it for signs of infection just in case (redness, swelling, pus, etc.).
  • Question
What should I do if I used alcohol to clean the ring itself and then put it back into my nose? It is very painful recently.
    BodyBlingPiercings
    Community Answer
Rubbing alcohol is an excellent conductor from removing germs and preventing infection, but it is also a very harsh product to put on/in a piercing and it is probably aggravating yours. H20 Piercing Aftercare Spray is the best kind of piercing care spray that you can get. It contains a sea salt mixture which is gentle on your skin and helps promote healing.
