    Expert Answer
You can buy a receiver that plugs into your TV's HDMI port, like Chromecast or Apple Airplay. Once you have that, you can (if you need to) download the correct software onto your TV and then connect the receiver to you home's WiFi network. Once you've done that, you just have to pair your devices and then you can use your TV through your PC.

Make sure that you have the correct HDMI input selected on your television. If we exclude streaming or other options over the Internet/LAN that may have latency penalties then consider a long HDMI cable for the image and sound (there are alternatives for very long distances to avoid quality degradation, like HDMI optical cables or HDMI with Ethernet conversion along the way etc.) and separate usb cables for mouse and keyboard. Alternatively there is the new Thunderbolt over Optical cable that can go from your PC (if supported) into a dock that sits next to your TV and has multiple ports like HDMI and USBs. (Both options have nontrivial costs and require further analysis of your context/devices.)
