  • Question
How is it that a quarterback can throw the ball for 2 yards and get credit for the yards that the receiver runs?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
It has always been true that a "reception" consists of not only the catch but also what the receiver does with the ball after making the catch.
  • Question
With all the money the NFL has, why do they have nets at the end zone? Why not let the fans have a football souvenir?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
Regardless of how much money the league may have, teams have the right to decide whether they want to give away footballs (which are not cheap).
  • Question
Why is a field goal not counted because it hit the inside the post, even though it still goes between the posts?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
What counts is that the ball passes completely between (or above) and beyond the goal posts.
  • Question
Why, in OT, if the team that had first possession scores a TD they win, when the other team has not yet had the opportunity to even attempt a TD? It gives an unfair advantage to the winner of the coin toss.
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
You're right. However, that disadvantage is balanced by the fact that if Team A (with the first possession) fails to score a touchdown in its first possession, Team B has the chance to win the game with a touchdown to which Team A cannot respond.
  • Question
Why is NFL not showing my Cowboys?
    Donagan
    Top Answerer
The NFL does not choose the games to be televised. The TV networks do that. They choose games they think will attract the largest audiences.
