  • Question
Is it bad that my character who turns into a goddess should be a little overpowered?
    Community Answer
It is not recommended to turn a character into a Gary Stue or a Mary Sue. If your character is a little overpowered, it's better if you give her a serious weakness, dark secret, bad attitude or something along the lines of those to balance it out. If your character turns into a goddess, there better be a good reason why they turn into one, which includes, but is not limited to hardships, troubles, and such.
  • Question
Is it okay if my character is damaged?
    Community Answer
Yes, as long as she has a reason to be.
  • Question
Can my character have a boyfriend/girlfriend?
    Community Answer
Yes, they don't have to but they can. Just create a back story for them as well.
  • Question
Could someone list a couple of major villans that haven't been defeated or seen much in the Percy Jackson series?
    Daniellethemermaid
    Community Answer
All monsters come back from Tartarus eventually, so you could do basically anyone (besides the titans and the giants, those were permanently defeated).
  • Question
Is it okay if my hero used to be immortal?
    Wisegirl12
    Community Answer
I don't see why not. It seems like a unique idea. Make sure to explain why/how they became mortal, though.
  • Question
Can my demigod be a Hunter of Artemis?
    Mafe Soares
    Community Answer
Sure, after all, it is mentioned in the books that any girl can be a Huntress, whether they are mortal, demigod, or even a nymph. Just remember that they make a vow to Artemis to swear off boys and romantic relationships (so no lesbian couples, unfortunately).
  • Question
Can Selene be used as my character's parent?
    Mafe Soares
    Community Answer
Yes, I don't see why not, since she's not a virgin goddess and belongs to Greek mythology.
  • Question
Can my character be a child of Minerva (Roman version of Athena)?
    Community Answer
No, as the Romans saw that a child of Athena was a disgrace, and Athena hated her Roman form.
  • Question
Is it okay if my demigod is a child of Eros?
    Community Answer
I don't see why not. He is the god of love after all, so it is likely that he might fall in love with a mortal.
  • Question
Can my demigoddess actually be the child of two demigods?
    DapperJazz
    Community Answer
Sure! They just wouldn't be a direct child of a god. They would be a legacy, like Frank is a legacy of Neptune.
  • Question
Could I use Kronos as my character's parent?
    Kidatash
    Community Answer
I don't think so. Prometheus is mentioned in "Percy Jackson and the Greek Gods" to have had a half-human son, but I don't think Kronos would be interested in having kids with mortals, especially after his little episode with Zeus and the rest of his kids. He's probably afraid they might kick him back into Tartarus again.
  • Question
Can my character be a daughter of Poseidon and be blessed by all the gods, so each of them gave her a power?
    Ellie
    Community Answer
That would make her a Mary-Sue, and the gods are strictly forbidden from showing favoritism like that.
  • Question
Can Khione be used as my character's parent?
    Community Answer
Yes. I think that's a very interesting idea, especially since you could give some cold-themed attributes to his child.
  • Question
Can I use my heritage as one of my character's traits?
    Community Answer
I don't see why not! Your character is being built by you, so the traits are yours to choose.
  • Question
Could my demigod be a child of Iris or Eos?
    Community Answer
Yes, of course. The minor gods need to be recognized too. Just make sure that your character is original.
  • Question
I know I should stick with Greco-Roman gods, but are other pantheons allowed?
    Emily Durand
    Community Answer
Yes. It’s your character, and it might not be exactly “Percy Jackson,” but it can still be “Rick Riordan.” I wouldn’t use a god or goddess from a religion you don’t know much about though.
  • Question
Can my demigod be a child of any of the Three Fates?
    Wisegirl12
    Community Answer
I think you should stick to your character being a child of a god or goddess, because I don't think fates get children with mortals, and even if they did, I don't think they'd be demigods.
  • Question
Is it possible for my original character to be dating one of the characters in the series?
    Emyh010
    Community Answer
There are loads of fanfictions called "OC x Character" that focus on this. Don't worry about whether the love interest is dating someone in the series; it can be an AU (alternate universe) where all the characters are single!
  • Question
Could my character be Nico's brother, even though there's no mention of a brother in the series?
    Smitchell12
    Community Answer
That should be fine! There are so many fanfics where some of the main characters have siblings. I think it's a wonderful idea! You could make your OC a lot younger or older than Nico so that there is an excuse for him not being in the series.
  • Question
Can my character have my name and be like me?
    Ellie
    Community Answer
Yes, that's a good idea if you want to feel like you're really in the PJO universe. Just don't make your OC a Mary-Sue/Gary Stu.
  • Question
What do you think of a Hermanubis demigod, linking with the Kane Chronicles?
    Ellie
    Community Answer
Egyptian Gods don't have demigod children, but they do have hosts/magicians, so you could make them one of those.
  • Question
Can mine be cursed to be half-animal or something? I'm obsessed with werewolves and Percy Jackson but I don't think there are any werewolves in there.
    Ellie
    Community Answer
They are werewolves in PJO/HoO, and it would be a cool idea, just be sure to create a backstory.
  • Question
Can my character be half of a set of twins?
    Emyh010
    Community Answer
Sure! But you might want to create or at least have a plan for the other twin.
  • Question
Can my character stem from ancient mythology that isn't Greek or Roman?
    Community Answer
Sure! Just like Magnus Chase from Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard, or Sadie and Carter Kane from The Kane Chronicles!
  • Question
Could I make up my own camp for half bloods? Like have my character not know anything about Camp Halfblood or Camp Jupiter?
    Emyh010
    Community Answer
Yes, but be sure to develop the camp well. It takes a lot of time and planning. Try and stay true to any Greek/Roman traditions.
  • Question
Would the Greek or Roman Gods have been able to have children in other places around the world (e.g. Europe) even though they're currently situated in America?
    Ellie
    Community Answer
Yes, just make sure the god of your choice is touring said place instead of being there permanently.
  • Question
Can my demigod be Artemis' or Hera's daughter?
    Ellie
    Community Answer
No, Artemis swore off relationships forever, and Hera only has children with Zeus, so it wouldn't make sense for them to have half-bloods.
  • Question
    Could the parent be Hermes?
    Ellie
    Community Answer
Of course, there are many children of Hermes, and your demigod doesn't have to be a child of The Big Three.
  • Question
How do I think of unique weapons for my characters that isn't just "sword" or "dagger"? How can I make their way of defending themselves be tied their personalities or godly parent?
    Cloudcrunch
    Community Answer
Research mythology. Certain gods/goddesses are associated with certain weapons, such as Apollo with the bow or Ares with a spear. Another thing to consider would be personality - in the books, Luke gives Annabeth a knife, saying she's a quick and agile fighter. Think about your character's personality: quick in battle, or fighting from a distance? You can also do some research into ancient and medieval weaponry to find something more unique for your characters.
  • Question
Is there any way to have a demigod daughter of Poseidon who can shape-shift?
    Cloudcrunch
    Community Answer
Yes, it could be possible. You could give her the ability to shape-shift into a sea animal of some sort, for instance. Try connecting the ability with something in Poseidon's domain.
