Do I have to wait until fall to transplant lilies that bloom in late spring?

Some say you should. However, I have done them at all times as long as they are not in bloom with either foliage or the flowers. You should also know they will produce foliage in the spring, and then the foliage will die back and the flowers will be produced in mid to late summer.

Do not split the bulbs themselves. When they are mature enough, there will be two bulbs (or more) attached to each other. At that point you can simply pull them apart if you wish, or you can leave them as they are and allow them to grow and multiply more. Surprise lilies are robust and can take a lot.
