QuestionI am a housewife and a tuition teacher. My tuition starts at 1:30 PM. How do I get started with my housework? My mom is staying with me, and expects the whole house to be sparkling clean every day.Community AnswerTake care of the easiest things that take the least amount of time and have the biggest impact first. Gather all dirty dishes into the sink and dirty clothes and linens into the laundry basket. Make the bed (if your bedroom is visible), and grab trash left out. Then look around and take care of whatever's most noticeable and won't consume a lot of time: running the vacuum quickly though the house, sweeping the kitchen, etc. Anything that's left by the time you have to leave the house can remain until the evening or the next day. Remind your mother that you have a job in addition to running a household, and if the house isn't clean to her satisfaction, encourage her to pitch in or hire a housekeeper to help.
