How do I color the chicken properly?

Stick with brown, black, and white. The feet of a chicken are usually in the orange-yellow category, but I've seen grey legs before. A lot of chickens seem to have little spots or patterns. If you need help choosing a color scheme, look up images of chickens. Of course, you're free to choose whatever colors you like.
