Edible food dye will last about two months or more. Make sure you choose a food coloring that is deemed safe for human consumption. If your dog has food sensitivities or allergies, please check with your veterinarian before using food coloring on your dog. Also, test the color on a small spot on your dog's fur first before you dye the whole body.

1 gallon of lukewarm water to 3 drops of dye. I use food dye but check to see if your dog has any cuts or raw spots on skin first, as these will be inflamed by using dye.
