  • Question
Should meat from cooked lobster be removed right away? I'm planning on using it for lobster salad the next day.
    Community Answer
The meat can be left in the shell and put in the fridge for later use. (Use within three days if the cooked lobster meat is left in the shell.) In my experience, though, the meat is easier to remove when the lobster is still warm.
  • Question
Can I eat the green parts?
    Community Answer
The 'green parts' are actually the lobster's tomalley, which is essentially the liver and pancreas. Many people, especially from New England, consider it a delicacy, and eat it along with the rest of the lobster. However, because the tomalley serves as the lobster's liver, there is the possibility of some toxins being present. Use your own judgement.
  • Question
Can I use the lobster fork to eat lobster?
    Community Answer
Always use your best judgement. I prefer to dig the meat out with the lobster fork and then switch to the regular fork, but I have done it either way, and both ways work.
  • Question
What can I serve with lobster?
    Community Answer
An ounce or two of butter for soaking the lobster meat. For side dishes, some good choices would be a salad or corn-on-the-cob.
  • Question
Does one actually use the lobster fork for eating, or simply use the fork to free the meat of the lobster from the shell?
    Community Answer
I personally use the fork to get the meat out of the shell. Either one is OK, but I recommend the second way.
  • Question
Can I freeze cooked lobster to eat later?
    Community Answer
Yes, you can freeze cooked lobster, but the quality of the meat will be diminished.
  • Question
Can I grind the lobster shell to add it into a sauce?
    Community Answer
No. Lobster shells, even finely ground, are too tough for the human mouth and digestive system and should not be eaten.
