    Expert Answer
I would always suggest exchanging currency in the US before heading to the UK (or any other country for that matter). Because the US has a much larger and more liquid foreign exchange market, local institutions are able to offer better rates and wider currency choices. Furthermore, the US dollar is the largest reserve currency in the world. Thus, it is widely accepted and exchanged very freely in most countries, so if you don't have the time for an exchange, you can just carry your US dollars and exchange them in your country of destination.

  • Question
Is the currency rate different if I pay by card rather than in cash?
    Jacquelyn
    Community Answer
Yes, the currency rate may be different based on the mode of exchange. Compared to cash, cards are known to provide better exchange rates. However, when you are converting your money, keep the following in mind: Compare the foreign exchange rates. Compare the fees charged and see if there are any additional charges attached to the transactions. Always opt for secured and reliable currency exchange service providers.
