Baby budgies can eat different foods depending on their age. If your bird is not weaned, it will need a handfeeding formula.

After weaning, feed your budgie pellets from brands like Zupreem, Higgins, and Roudybush. Seeds are another good option, but you should steer clear of any artificially-colored varieties.
  • Question
How can I get my budgies to try new vegetables and fruits?

Start by placing the different assortments of fruits and veggies in their cage in little dishes on the bottom of the cage. A good trick to make them more enticed is to cover a fruit (such as banana) in the little millet seeds - this makes them more interested as they may already like/know what millet is and have a go at the fruit/veggie. Make sure to do a quick online search to see which fruits and veggies in your fridge or at the local supermarket are safe for your budgie.
  • Question
What are treats for 4 to 7 month old budgies?

Millet is a great budgie treat - but make sure it is fed as only a sometimes treat (because it is very bad if they have it 24/7!). Some great 'fan favourite' fruits and veggies include: apples (remove seeds as they are toxic to budgies), banana and grated carrot.
