  • Question
How can I find a brother that was separated at birth?
    Community Answer
You can try using ancestry.com. There are multiple ways of finding your brother. Ancestry helps many people these days with finding long lost siblings, parents, aunts, uncles and even grandparents!
  • Question
How do I find any relative by surname only?
    Community Answer
You need another piece of information: when did they live? Where did they live? Do you know the full name of a son or daughter? You can search their name in the US or state census records and see if the full family is listed. Did they emigrate by boat (boat manifests) or arrive through Ellis Island? Do your relatives have any other information? Were they in the military? Look through old letters and/or photographs for any names or locations or dates?
  • Question
How can I find my half siblings?
    Community Answer
If they don't live with you, you can contact the parents or parent of the half sibling via your parent or your phone. If they live across the country or something, you can just try to find them.
  • Question
I just found out about my father having a son. How can I find him?
    Community Answer
If you have a time or place, try the local newspaper's birth/death notices. Maybe there will be a name. If it's very recent, you probably can't get birth information from the state. Try the census after the son's birth, but if it's recent, that census may not have been released to the public.
