  • Question
Why do I have to use square paper?
    Community Answer
If the paper isn't square, it will not fold correctly and will not be a perfect envelope.
  • Question
If I make it with normal paper, will it mail safely?
    Community Answer
The envelope may open up in the mail if you don't glue or tape it, but if you do that it should be as safe as a regular envelope.
  • Question
Can you put anything in the gift package?
    Community Answer
If it fits, then yes. Don't post illegal substances in the mail though as it could be dangerous.
  • Question
Do I even need glue? I mean, it's origami.
    Community Answer
You're right, you don't actually need glue. Every origami piece you make will hold itself together if you folded it correctly. Glue can just help make it extra-sturdy if necessary.
  • Question
Do I need to use paste or glue on my origami envelope?
    Community Answer
You can choose whichever glue you want, but liquid glue is messy and it will need to dry for a lot longer.
  • Question
Why is the bottom of the envelope not sealed?
    Community Answer
Because it fits into the flap. In true origami, you very rarely or never use tape or glue. Because this is an envelope, however, we can make an exception. I suggest using a quick swipe of a glue stick, because if you use too much glue then you can't get into the envelope. Or you can cut some pieces of double-sided tape and fit them into the flap.

While you can use a small piece of paper, be sure to keep in mind that the final envelope will end up very tiny. If that's what you're going for, then yes, smaller paper works just as well, as long as you pay attention to the small details.
  • Question
Why do you need a square piece of paper?
    Idabelle

If the paper is not square, the corners will not line up correctly, and you may not be able to fold the envelope using the methods above. If you start with paper that is not square, you can cut it into a square to make it work.
