  • Question
What are the best colors for decorating, dressing, etc., at Christmas?
    Community Answer
The best colors to get in (and stay in) the Christmas spirit are hands down red and green! Blue and purples don't look bad as house décor either. You could also use metallics, gold and silver.
  • Question
How can I decorate my house without worrying that my cat will wreck the tree?
    Community Answer
If you have a fake tree, put the branches higher where your cat can't reach them. Make sure to not put any breakable ornaments on the bottom. You could also apply a citrus-scented spray or balm around the bottom of your tree. Cats don't like the smell and they will usually stay away.
  • Question
How do I get into the Christmas spirit when I am anxious and stressed?
    Community Answer
I felt the same way. What I did was get cozy. I lit a seasonal candle, put on my favorite Christmas movie, and decorated to get into the spirit. If you feel like it, you could attend a Christmas party or get together, or even go caroling. Just get your mind off things and seize the joy of the holidays.
  • Question
This year is very different for me. A few things were spoiled, and nothing is as magical. I tried baking, decorating, and gifts, but I can't seem to get out of my funk. What do I do?
    Community Answer
Try not to compare this Christmas with those of the past. Every year is different, and that's what makes it so special. Light a few nice smelling candles and take a warm bath while playing Christmas music. Take this time for yourself to think. Think of fun alternatives for the things that have been spoiled, and think of the meaning of Christmas. Since this Christmas is different from others anyway, maybe you can dub it something different, like "The Christmas of Giving" and give more than you normally would. Make fudge for your neighbors and pay for a stranger's small purchase at Walmart.
  • Question
Can I use a door cover instead of a wreath?
    Community Answer
    Yes, you can!
  • Question
How can I get into the Christmas spirit if I have become an atheist?
    Community Answer
You don't have to be religious, or give presents, to be in the spirit of the holidays. Just focus on being kind to other people, be generous with your smile, help people who need help, ask for help if you need it, be a neighbor, be a volunteer, find something to be grateful for every day, and you will be happy.

It's different for everyone. For Christians, it commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ and thanking God. Christmas also has more meaning, regardless of whether you are a Christian or not. It is a time for people gathering together and finding peace and love. It is also a time for kindness and celebration. People celebrate Christmas in different ways, there is no right or wrong.
  • Question
How can I get into the Christmas spirit when I found out Santa isn't real?
    Ruby
    Top Answerer
Change your mindset. Remember that even though the presents weren't from Santa, they were from your parents/guardians and they never expected anything in return. They gave you presents for years and never took credit for it. This shows how important kindness is to Christmas and doing things for others without expecting anything in return. If you can't get into the festive mood, don't focus on that, and instead focus on helping others. This can be by giving presents to others, holding events, volunteering, giving to charity, giving presents to refugees, homeless people, or others who may not otherwise be getting presents. Being kind to others is the best way to feel better and properly get into Christmas. If you are a Christian, you can also find guidance in your religion and realise that there's more to Christmas than Santa.
