  • Question
So, I have a Nincada, just going on my second run of Pokemon Ruby. It's level 11, and I'm in Dewford, I need a way to train it so I can evolve it into a Shedinja, Are there any good training spots?

Go into Dewford Cave and train there.
  • Question
Does the Pokeball I have in my bag have to be a normal one?
    Community Answer
Yes, it has to be an actual Pokeball. Not a Great or Ultra Pokeball, or any other special types.
  • Question
If the nincada evolved, is it too late to get shedinja?
    Community Answer
Yes. Try getting one through gts if you're on the 6th or 7th generation.
  • Question
Does Nincada have to be in the first slot of my party or my second to last slot?
    Community Answer
It does not matter what slot the Nincada is in, there just has to be an empty Pokemon slot and a pokeball in your bag, unless you have Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum.
  • Question
Will this work if they are in daycare?
    Community Answer
Pokemon cannot evolve within the daycare. So once you extract your Nincada from the daycare, if it has leveled up above twenty, and you have filled the stated requirements, then you will get a Shedninja.
  • Question
Can I release the Ninjask if I get Shedinja after evolving Nincada into Ninjask, or will Shedinja be released, too?
    Community Answer
Nope. They are now separate Pokemon.
  • Question
What are the things that can hit Shedinja?
    Community Answer
Fire, Dark, Ghost, and Flying-type moves are the moves that can hit Shedinja.
  • Question
Do you also get a Ninjask?
    Bun bun
    Top Answerer
Yes, you get both Ninjask and Shedinja from this method, as Shedinja is meant to be Nincada's skin before evolving.
  • Question
Do I need to beat the game?
    Community Answer
No, you just need to catch a Nincada and evolve it. Nincada can be found in grass routes.
  • Question
Do I need to prevent Nincada’s evolution into Ninjask to get Shedinja?
    Community Answer
No, you do not. You will still get the Shedinja if you don't prevent the evolution as long as the space and pokeball requirements are met. Preventing the evolution does allow you to competitively train your Shedinja, though, as the level and moves from Ninjask will be inherited.
  • Question
Is it okay to have more than one Pokeball?
    Community Answer
Yes. Having more than one Pokeball will not prevent you from getting Shedinja. It just has to be a standard ball, not ultra, great, or any other types.
  • Question
Can I do this with only one pokeball, or do I need multiple balls?
    Community Answer
It depends. You need a pokeball to catch the ninjask and a pokeball in your bag when ninjask evolves, to obtain shedinja.
  • Question
Is Nincada supposed to evolve once I cancel it before it evolves into Ninjask?
    Community Answer
Nincada is still capable of evolving post level 20 if the evolution is canceled, if that’s what you mean. You can cancel the evolution as much as needed; once Nincada evolves however, you cannot get Shedninja from Ninjask if you weren’t able to fill all of the requirements. You will have to evolve a separate Nincada.
  • Question
Why didn't I get a shedninja when I have pokeballs and an empty slot?
    Cesaro LDG Offical
    Community Answer
Did you level up you Nincada to level 20? Also, make sure that your pokeball is not a great or an ultra ball!
